After a Windows 10 update the sound on my laptop has gone robotic. I've tried uninstalling Realtek audio and restarting the laptop but the robotic sound is still there.

I'd welcome advice as to what to do.

Imagine if your computer came to life....and became Rosie from the Jetsons?

Seriously, I’m joking because I feel lousy that I can’t offer good advice.

Thanks for that, but unfortunately none of the steps solved the problem.

Clicking on realtek audio properties events tab gives me this-

Quote:
Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0257&SUBSYS_17AA381D&REV_1000\5&229944b1&0&0001 requires further installation.

I dunno then FM

I would try and install a driver from the Realtek website to rule out a driver issue

https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zo ... s-software

If the Win 10 driver doesn't work and you have an older machine , try a Win 7 driver and cross your fingers

I rolled back a new build for Windows 10 I'd installed, and problem was solved.

I seem to read about issues caused by Windows 10 updates all the time. That's why I'm sticking with Windows 8.1 for as long as it's supported. 100% reliable and massively underrated.
