This equipment is 2004 vintage, and still quick enough for what I do with it.

Dual Athlon MP 2600+ with a gig of RAM. It works.

I bought the computer I'm typing on in 2006. It's a Pentium Duo (not core 2, unfortunately), has 1024 MB of RAM, 512 MB of video memory, 80 GB hard drive, DVD/CDR optical drive. It's kind of a piece of s**t. I spent good money on it and it barely plays any games.

I think the next computer I'm going to buy will be a PS3, or perhaps the next version of the PS3, as I think the next convenient time to make a major purchase may be within a year or two.

That would be sick to buy a PS3 and then outfit it with a 500 GB hard drive.

January 2006. Can't say I feel much need for anything faster/newer. I did put a couple of big HDD's in since buying it though.

Got it this year just a few months ago with my own money.

Cost a few thousand dollars.
