Pretty neat, the thing is heavy and expensive and not terribly powerful, throwing a 2 oz slug at 230 fps or so, but the technology is improving rapidly, and there's a much higher performance ceiling than conventional firearms. Apparently these guys tinkered around with railguns as well, but couldn't solve the plasma erosion issue, so changed focus to coilguns instead. There's another video on the Forgotten Weapons channel where Ian interviews one of the company founders, he has some interesting things to say about magnetically spin stabilizing the projectiles in future models, which really caught my attention as that might allow much longer projectiles to be driven accurately, as conventional rifling is limited by the amount of friction a faster twist rate causes.
