Does anyone know of anything interesting or useful that can be done with a broken flat-panel monitor?
CRTs and other devices are useful because of their HV power supplies and parts. A lot of electronics are useful in some way. This is the first flat-panel that I've gotten, so I don't know of any experiments that can be done with it.

If it's only a broken backlight, you can rig it up with a powerful light source and make it into an HD projector for a couple hundred bucks.

I once smashed a CRT with a sledge hammer without realising how potentially dangerous it was. It was fun though... sounded like a bomb and glass went everywhere.
