I want to switch over to firefox completely, but I'm having problems with it freezing up between tasks. Is there any way to fix this? Also, is there an extention to ban certain sites in Firefox to help prevent some popups that get missed by blockers? Oh, and I'm running XP pro.

the freezing is not something I've ever had or heard about. A simple uninstall, reboot, reinstall routine might do the trick if you haven't tried that yet.

No, its what happens if you have norton AV installed. Norton insistantly continually scans firefox for viruses. I get it a lot, or I used to.

Norton AV used to crash Photoshop as it would scan the temp files while I worked in Photoshop. Get rid of Norton and go with something like TrendMicro PC-Cillin.

I hardly ever have problems with Firefox, and I'm running XP Pro as well..W/O AV protection, at that. If you are running ANYTHING by Norton's, get rid of it. Anything put out by Norton's is either a resource hog, or micromanages your computer (Norton Utilities)

That being said, if you can figure out how to block all popups in Firefox, let me know, I have a considerable list of blocked popup URLS in the popup blocker, but I'm STILL getting them.

When my former employer standardized on Norton, that was the last straw. I started to plot how to get fired and walk away with my serverance package.

Does Firefox have any program to specifically ban a URL from loading? Whether as a security feature or a parental control (but preferably a security feature)?

hmm, I really expected it would be part of the base program but I guess it isn't.

But that site that V111 linked to has just about everything on it, there's gotta be SOMETHING on that site to help you. I couldn't find it though :?

You can use a software fire wall that has content blocking by url and or ip address but not in firefox it's self. And no by it's self you type a url in it will load. put about:blank as your home page it loads fast :-)
