Hi Guys,

Any ideas on why a Dell Insprion 4150 Touchpad does not work correctly, and how to fix it. I received it free from a company I did a job for, so don't mind too much.

Basically - the double tap on touchpad doesn't work, and neither of the left mouse buttons seems to either. If you are able to double tap with the nipple, this doesn't do it either. Right click does work.

Problem in both XP and Ubuntu so most likely a hardware issue.

Thanks,

D

Try an external USB mouse, and see if that works. If it does, great! If not, I unfortunately don't know what to tell you.

I do use an external mouse, but sometimes its easier to just hit the touchpad for something and not have to set up the whole desktop.

check out synaptics control panel and see if your settings are bad

the linux problem could just be due to the touchpad package not being installed
