I have Windows XP, but I don't think I have a voice modem--just a regular data/fax modem. However, I was wondering whether it is still possible to record phone conversations using dialers. The default Windows dialer doesn't have very many features, so I downloaded a free Voicent dialer, which was made for telemarketers and thus has recording capabilities. When I try the software, I keep getting error messages saying I need a voice modem. Does anybody know any free software where I can dial numbers and talk (and record) using a microphone?

nope

it is possible to use your computer to dial by playing dial tones through the sound card into the mic of the telephone (I know, I've seen me do it)

That sucks. I guess I'll need the voice modem then. I was hoping I could plug my computer into the phone line and then use my computer's mic to talk. I've been able to dial numbers using the Windows dialer but I haven't been able to talk. Somebody else told me that they were able to, but they couldn't recall exactly how to do it.

I think serial port modems have seperate mic and headphone plugs you can use for voice dialing.
