I was wondering how much it costs to run a Personal Web Page. I've been interested in running one, for a while. I'm also wondering if you can make a certian ammount of money for so many Hits.

Don't do Geocities. Learn HTML first, and then and then wait here for suggestions for better free hosts. Geocities has that annoying ad thingy.

There are many possible combinations depending on your needs and knowledge.

Simple project, no coding : a blogger-like tool or another commercial free tool that offers you a webbuilder (templates that you can easily personalize). In france, the subscription to an internet provider includes that kind of services.

Special needs (number of pages, interactivity...) no coding : You need to intall a CMS. Most of the time that requires a web hosting that provides you a database. You may find it for free, but with no quality : undisponibility, pages very slow to load.
So better buy a commercial webhosting. That is quite cheap for basic options.
I am paying 12 euros/year (14,6 USD) for that in a cooperative where I bought a 16 euros share. That is not the cheapest, but I subcribed there when I was a beginner and needed a lot of friendly support.
I have got another commercial webhosting at about 30 euros/year (36,5 USD) for a 100 Mo diskspace (instead of 20 at my coop).

Special needs/you are a master in html and php: you would not have asked that question.

As for making money from personnal webpages, I am quite skeptic. As an admin, maybe you can study the click ratio of WP and do some extrapolation.

my favorite CMS : SPIP

OK, i suggest GeoCities first, then stick some Google ads on your site (i know of the unsightly-ness of this as the GeoCities ads are already there), then once you've raked in a bit of cash, then buy a domain and some hosting, but keep the google ads to help pay for it, but the overall price depends on hosts and the cost of the domain and whatever else

My website http://actionman133.isa-geek.net:8080/ runs for free.

I have many gigs of videos that I want to show to others, so hosting on some server wasn't practical. So, my website runs off my computer. I got Apache, which turns your computer into a web server and acquired a DNS (url name) for free (don't get any services or support though).

I wrote the HTML myself. It's simple but practical and in my opinion, easy on the eyes.

It's good because I'm on broadband without upload limits. But I do have to keep my computer on 24/7.

That is another option if you can set it up or get a computer friend to help you.

EDIT: website address lacked port number.

I've put some Google ads and a Google search bar on my site, they don't cost anything to put on, but they haven't amounted to anything yet regardless of the fact that my site is listed on Google search now

though it's still work in progress it is quite a good site, with a nice and simple layout, nothing complex

that geocities ad thing sometimes disappears if you put google ads on the page so it's not there all the time if you put google ads in

I don't think it is, but since I added Google ads to mine that is what has been happening on a few pages

If you are technologically savvy, or if you know someone who is, you can create a JavaScript function that will remove Geocities' ads from your pages. Please keep in mind that doing this is a violation of their policy, and if you are caught then you will no longer have your website.

I'm not doing that, and I don't have any ads...

You can get cheap hosting for about $4.00 USD per month and domain registration for about $15 USD per year or less.
