Even though Vista is considered the upgrade to XP, I know some people aren't happy with it.

So, which do you prefer, XP or Vista

None of my stuff - what's it called, peripherals?- like the printer and my U3 drive, will speak to Vista. My brother tried to put XP on my new laptop but it's set up so you can't do it - I think he said something like It's in 2 compartments and XP has to be all in one compartment, something like that.

I used Vista on my laptop for a little while, but when the hard drive crashed, I put XP back on. XP does what I want it to do, doesn't bloat the system with annoying "features", and doesn't have as much of that crippling DRM.

I'll probably be using Linux before I switch to Vista

I just got Vista, and count me as 'not impressed'. One of my printers has no drivers for Vista, HP says the model is too 'old'. My other printer still has fits, and refuses to play with Vista for no discernible reason.

I watch TV on my computers so Vista is good for that because it has the madia centre software built in.

I also like the Chess in Vista and the ready boost feature.

So overall it is Vista I like best.

XP BY FAR, Vista is crap. I feel sorry for anyone that wasted their money on it. it's unstable, I was in the beta testing program for it and bugs I reported are still there, that whole thing was useless. Not to mention if you don't have a high end PC your going to notice a HUGE performance drop when upgrading. And Aero may look pretty but it's much better to have Classic applied, especially for gamers. Enough said Vista is a downgrade not an upgrade.

I currently use XP, but my next computer is going to be a Mac.

XP. I don't want MS controlling what I can and can't do with my mp3 files.

Now you know how people were like on September 14,2000 when Mistake Edition came out.

Vista's a joke.

As soon as someone can port DirectX to run in WINE, I'll never touch Windows again. :) As it is, it's my main OS because I like my games too much.

Knowing that XP wouldn't be available afterwards, I bought my new PC right before Vista's release. I didn't want the piece of junk that is Vista polluting my hard drive and from what I hear, I definitely made the right choice.

It seems I'm unlucky. My family are going to get a new computer, and it seems that it will run on Vista. How unlucky is that. Though I think the main problem is upgrading to it, so I should be fine.

I don't understand what the problem is.

I've had no problems at all.

I have Vista on two of my PCs and on my laptop and I have only experienced positives.

I have two PCs with XP on in case I miss it but I don't tend to use those so much because Vista is so good.

My only quibble is that it could have been more revolutionary but there is enough of a difference between Vista and XP to make it a worthwhile upgrade in my opinion.

I does need lots of RAM but the Readyboost feature can help there until you can upgrade your hardware.

I remember all this negativity about XP when it first came out too.

To be truthful I don't really like windows full stop but IF I had to pick between Vista and XP then I'd pick XP solely because Vista is an OS that was quickly written and never had any bugs removed so all in all is useless
