I have an iPhone 4, and can't afford a newer model. I have iOS 7.2, and can't upgrade further. It seems like Apple is in a rush to discontinue support for apps that don't require iOS 8 or later. Have they always been this way with iOS support, or is Tim Cook more about forcing people to buy newer iPhones so he can line his pockets?

You pay a premium for a handset, or anything else made by Apple for that matter only to have support for it discontinued a few years later in order for them to get you to go out and buy a new one.

I use a Motorola Moto G 4, which is an unlocked handset running Android Marshmallow, and is capable of running on either CDMA or GSM Networks, for a lot cheaper than the iPhone. --It's also a 8 core CPU phone that cost me $200. --You will never see anything like that being from Apple.

Consumer Cellular has the 5S for $160--they will also let you pay $35 up front and another five $25 payments.

Yes, it's always been this way. You can't spend more? Apple lose interest. Back in the eighties, I wrote the most beautiful accounting system for the apple iii - they canned that device to push sales for the embryonic macintosh. I bought a Lisa. Hah. Again, hardware sales forced its demise. Two generations of macs later I gave up on the bastards but the iPhone brought me back. At least they don't catch fire

I hate the direction Apple is going. $10,000 gold watches. $300 book with no words just pictures of their products. It's so elitist and out of touch with normal people. They keep dropping the interesting tech things to focus on high priced fashion nonsense. Tim Cook is no good.
