Yeah, I have a Dell Inspiron B130, and lately a whole lot of pixels have died, there are many clumps of 3 or 4 dead pixels together on the screen. I talked to my friend, a computer genious, and he did not know any ways. I found one, simaltaniously unplugging the laptop and ripping out the battery, then pressing on the pixels, but my friend said that would take liquid from the nearby ones, causing them to die faster, as well as possibly corrupting my hard drive. My warrenty ran out a while ago, so I cannot send it in to be fixed. I found a website that sells screens for my laptop, but they are $200 per, and my laptop only cost $580. It took me over a year to save up for it, too, so I am not too anxious to start saving for a new one.

About the only thing that you can do is get a new screen for it, as there is no way to repair dead pixels.

try massaging the lcd around the clumps. also try a dead pixel fixer software (although I've never been able to get those to do anything).

Are the pixels stuck? Follow the link to try un-sticking them.

Or are the pixels dead. If they are dead, they are dead Dead DEAD. :skull:

Yeah, they are really DEAD, not stuck, me and my friend tried the program. I guess I will just have to work around the clumps until Christmas, then, unless my dad is feeling REALLY generous one day. Thanks, everyone.

If they're dead, there's nothing you can do about it.

Stuck pixels is another name for dead pixels. (or can be, in most cases)

I find giving 'em a good flick temporarily fixes the problem, at least on my dad's monitor.

It depends on what's causing the problem. Sometimes "massaging" the pixels does solve the problem (though technically you're not supposed to do that), sometimes rapidly flashing colors solves it (by rapidly alternating the pixel on/off to "unstick" it)

I don't know that simultaneously unplugging the computer and ripping out the battery would do anything except increase the odds of the laptop flying across the room.

Otherwise, the dead pixel is caused by failing electronics and there's not much you can do about that.

If it really bugs you, you can buy external LCD monitors for significantly less than $200 that you can also use if you happen to replace the laptop later.

In Dell and IBM training, we're instructed to tell customers that if they're dead, they're dead (but very politely...;)

your worked at dell and IBM?!?!? cool,

as for the dead cells thing, if you look at monitor at an angle, does there appear to be a dent or scratch or cut in surface of the screen?? it is possible yes to have laptop screens replaced, my cousin repairs screen problems just about every day,

have you also maybe went to windows update (if its a windows machine) and looking for graphics or video related updates??

have you thought of finding a small computer repair shop?? or maybe before any more cells die maybe set up an external monitor so you dont have clums all over the screen, it dont sound like any harddrive failure

good luck and feel free to email or im me riddick
