I just ask you people now. Every tech service I phoned said: No idea. Send it to some service across the country. But I did that two years ago already because of something else and the people there were true nongs.

I finally want my laptop repaired, if possible. I try to explain what is broken.

The power supply, or whatever it is that you connect the adapter to, inside the laptop is broken. The pin in the connection has broken off and is gone... to somewhere in the laptop. Making it impossible to connect an adapter to the laptop.

So I guess I'd need a new... power supply connection thing-y, but I don't know if that's possible.

Is it?

And is it expensive? How many USD/Euro? Anybody know?

Yup. Happened to a friend of mine. If its still under warranty (or even if its not) contact your system's manufacturer and they'll send you the part. If its not under warranty, you should ask how much it is. My friend was able to install it himself, but once you have it, you can just take it to some tech service place.

Thank you! That's awesome, I hope it isn't too expensive (not under warranty any more, sadly), but if it's this easy to fix, then it shouldn't be more than a 100 Euro, which means I can pay that!

Depends on the laptop itself - I know Lenovo/IBM ones are separate plugs that meet up with the power header pins on the motherboard, while Dell/HP/Toshiba/Acer - pretty much any Quanta/Compal/MiTac/Clevo ODM laptop has them soldered onto the motherboard. Those are prone to stress and cold solder issues.
