I've been debating for a little while which one would be better for a combo trance/IDM (odd noises of the latter, relative simplicity of the former) musician.

I've tried both, and they're both pure fun. But which should I get?

Either can do the job well, just pick one that's easier for you.

I use FL Studio. I think the choice between DAWs comes down to personal preference.

You know, you're right. And since Renoise needs absolutely no drum sampler and is hundreds of bucks cheaper, I'll go with Renoise.

Plus, if I'm lucky, then I'll be able to get a MIDI keyboard (trust me: 2 octaves and no knobs is pretty limiting).

I just got a mpk49, I love it. 4 octaves, 8 faders, switches, and knobs that are in 3 banks. Pads, transport controls, and an arp. :)
