I have been editing my Windows Host File, to block some ad sites that my browser cannot stop. I want to know if, when specifying the web address, can I use wildcards, such as:

127.0.0.1 *.adsite.com

to block all sites with adsite.com as the address, regardless of the prefix. Also

127.0.0.1 *.adsite.*

to block sites with multiple suffixes.

If I can use wildcards, what symbols do I use and how?
