I'm up in the air about getting the Zune or the itouch. I'm leaning strongly toward the itouch.

opinions?

Depends on the features you want. I''m more about actual music than watching videos and such, so I went for high-capacity. Have had good luck with the 60Gig Creative Labs 'Jukebox Zen', though mine's nearly two years old, so there's no telling what the new models are like. CL's software sucks, though, but there's software made by Red Chair available online that's much more user friendly.

I'd suggest you get some hands-on experience with both of them at least and ideally demo one for a typical experience of using it - i.e. for me I travel extensively so being able to use it with one hand while walking along the street is essential, also dont need lot of space so a 3Gb nano is ideal. My previous 5G ipod died after i dropped it just one to many times.

Personally i've had Ipods for the last 2 players but thats cause im sold on the interface and i dont like change, im same with phones - always Nokia since i dont want to change to a different interface

Don't get any of that touch screen crap... the screen will turn to a smudgy piece of s**t in weeks unless you wash your hands before every single time you use it...

Isn't that why they have pointers?

As for me I have 3 mp3 players I think.
My mobile (battery dies fast if I use as mp3), Support-Plus 1GB mp3 player, NintendoDS using homebrew (use that more often, it allows me to put music videos on it).

I don't know that the ipod touch screen is that bad. My friend has an itouch and when I played with it wasn't very smeary at all, and certainly he doesn't wash his hands or wipe the screen very often.

As an owner on the iPod Touch, I can describe its pros and shortcomings. The iPod Touch does not use a stylus, you use your finger to control it. The screen will smudge with extended use, but it's very easy to clean, just wipe your sleeve over it and you're done. If someone's screen is full of smudges they're just very lazy. The screen is almost impossible to scratch, so you can put it in your pockets with your mobile phone or car keys and not worry about that.

However, the back of the iPod Touch scratches extremely easily. I don't know what it's made of but it's the worst possible material Apple could have used because it scratches if you so much as breathe on it. I have mine in a leather case so that's not a problem anymore. New owners of an iPod Touch will definitely want to keep it in a case if they want the back to stay scratch-free.

Battery life is OK, I wouldn't rate it as being excellent. It's never run out on me but that's because I use mine for music and organiser functions 90% of the time. The real battery draining activities are movie watching and internet use. I use AAC encoded music at 256kbps VBR and it lasts for about 8 hours of music playback. 3-4 hours of video playback has been my experience. Apple rates the battery life at 11 hours for music playback, but I assume they're using standard 128kbps AAC.
