Hell no to vista! Microsoft hasn't released something this buggy since the beta versions of XP.

Linux!! !

1 of 2 things will happen.

1) microsoft will stabilize vista like it did XP when XPSP2 came out. Then i'll switch to vista
2) Vista will just continue to suck utterly and I'll jump to linux...

I use Vista at work and love it; but I'm not going to get it for home use until I get a new laptop.

As for the MSW vs. Mac thing, I compare it to shoes: Macs are like velcro shoes and MSW are shoes with shoelaces. Yes, they can get untied, or you can tie a knot, or a mean person can tie your shoelaces together, but better to know how to tie your shoelaces than have to walk around in velcro shoes.

I've got Vista, because it's what came with the new computer ( laptop) that we bought about two months ago.

What are the differences ? Haven't really noticed anything compared to windows xp on our older computer.

Unless .... could it be the reason a long link i posted a fortnight ago got wrapped around three lines of text on my screen but apparently was stretching the page terribly for other people?

When somone buys me a new computer with enough resources to run it properly (12Ghz quad 64bit Core, 40 or so GB ram and 20+ TB ultra rappid HD not forgeting the 4 linked top end graphics cards).

Perhaps I'm exaggerating a bit :)

I use Windows XP x64 professional.

Vista gave me more trouble than it was worth.
Its not like I'm missing much, I can't get a directx10 graphics card even if I wanted one.

The Windows Vista fiasco is the perfect time to give a GNU/Linux or BSD distribution a try—or a Macintosh if you swing that way. I'll probably install Ubuntu Linux (or possibly Fedora, but my previous incursions into the Linux realm were with Debian) with my next computer.

I keep having to shut down my Vista laptop after surfing WP for an hour or two... it gets slower and slower and finally the web pages start timing out.

I'm back on my XP laptop now and WP is much faster. Vista (spit) Grrr.

    Two things:
  1. I discovered velcro shoes about two decades ago, and have not worn laced footwear since.
  2. I can think of no reason to use an OS I can't rewrite.

Currently Ubuntu, was Debian, Mandrake, SuSE, etc.

I absolutely hate Vista. I'll avoid as long as I possibly can.

When I get a laptop for college, the first thing I'm doing is wiping Vista from the drive. Then I'm going to install XP on it, and then immediately configure it to triple-boot with Ubuntu and Fedora. (I'm majoring in Programming and they use Visual Basic to teach... well... the Basics. If it weren't for that, my laptop would only run Linux.)

I don't do much apart from surfing the net, reading docs, visiting sites, etc, posting on here, watching/listening to youtube, playing GuildWars ( mostly my son rather than me), and not much else, so perhaps that's why I haven't noticed anything particular about Vista. It just seems the same as xp.

Why are so many people pissed off with it? :?:
