I did a wrong planet seach to see if anyone has posted about David Hahn, however no one has. Has anyone heard about him? I am reading a book about him and right away I definately think he at least has AS. As a kid (even today) he was obessed with science and chemistry. He starting like most kids wanting to be scientists played with batteries took things apart saw how things work, but he became more fixed and start to produce his own chemicals attempted to collect EVERY element in the periodic table and eventally progress to trying to build his own breeder reactor when he was 17 in 1994. Was labled the geeky kid, did poorly in school due to his science obession and dove into his science world where things most of the time blew up. Just last year he was arrested for removing all of the smoke detectors of a building to collect the amercium in them.

I am just surprised no one has talked about him yet.

He sunds pretty aspie...never heard of him myself. I suppose society would be much happier if he would just stay in the basement and play video-games...that is until he develops some new technology for green friendly energy or a cure for cancer. :D

I remember that guy, the Radioactive Boy Scout, scary stuff that some people do. Took all that americium out of the smoke detectors, he's lucky nobody died from this stupid fascination with these things, That reactor he built was giving off a dangerous amount of radioactivity.

Cure them of what? Being themselves? They probably don't want to be "cured" any more than you do. This is a wonderful example of Aspie hypocrasy.

ANd above is a great example of aspies having no sense of humor... about 1 in a 1,000..so it must be true of all of us.

I think that it was on WP that I heard of him. Luckily, he didn't have either the resourcefulness or money at his disposal to gather a sufficient supply of beryllium for the Neutron Gun of his enrichment process. It is readily available in almost optimum shapes for without licencing or EPA clearance . --Beryllium is nonradioactive, but still almost as poisonous in elemental form as Plutonium.

Furthermore, larger amounts Thorium are also readily available relatively inexpensively through some surprisingly mundane channels.

Sarcasm" appeared in English in 1579, from Late Latin "sarcasmos," in turn from Hellenistic or Medieval Greek "sarkasmos," and ancient Greek σαρκάζω (sarkazo, meaning 'to tear flesh'). .....ouch

Yeah, I was amazed at how stupid he was to be so smart. He had no protection from anything. The best that he had was goggles and nothing else. No gloves for caustic chemicals or electrical work, no face shield, and no proper ventillation. I just went through a day of electrical training and it is still fresh with me, but still I would expect if you knew alot about a subject it would include its phsyical dangers. I like electronics, but I know not to be so cocky with my knowledge to think I will never get a shock. At one point I read, while making his own fireworks, he didn't realize that the red phosophorus exploded upon impact so when he decided to to hammer a piece into a small plastic container they had to pick out plastic of his eyes for a year.

Crazy people.
