Recently I uploaded some photos onto my computer and deleted them a manual way which makes the camera not recognise they have been deleted and persist in saying "MEMORY FULL!". Basically, I'm looking for a new memory card. But I'm not sure which will work.

My current one reads "Samsung MMC plus, 64MB". This may be the dumbest question ever, but if I buy another MMC plus card off the internet, will it be compatible?

I'm pretty sure the new card would be compatible, but I don't have a camera with the type so I can't say for sure.

Have you tried formatting the card from Windows? With camera connected, go to My Computer and right click the drive for your camera, and choose "Format" and hit Start. There is probably an option to format the card from in your camera menu as well.

Ach, I'm one of the ~3% blessed with a Mac. *prances around the room like an elite*

Thanks for your help though. Things like this (another MMCplus, this time of the transcend brand, claiming to have versatility across a wide range of gadgets) seem to have the dimensions perfectly right. I'll wait for another post that will confirm what I (don't) think and it'll be fine. Cheers! Just don't want to end up wasting a tenner or so.

Well it's not like those memory sticks are supposed to be disposable. You should look for a "format" option in the camera menu or try this that I found:

Connect the memory card to the Mac, launch Disk Utility from Applications > Utilities, choose the memory card from the left hand column, click on the Erase tab, choose MS-DOS File System from the Volume Format drop down menu and click on the Erase button.

You might still want to look into a replacement -- depending on how many photos you normally shoot and so on -- as 64MB is pretty small these days. But if it's plenty big for what you do, there's no real need.
