a computer that comes preinstalled with three separate partitions on its single hard drive? The total hard drive space on my EEE PC 1000H is 80GB, yet it's been split up into three partitions, two of which are roughly 40GB and one which is 'hidden' and is only 32MB. In Disk Management Windows reports the latter as being an 'EFI System Partition' and is 100% free space.

The 32MB Hidden Partition is most likely reserved for Power Management. I have no idea about the oher two partitions, unless it was setup for the end user to use the free partition as storage for user files if the main partition becomes corrupted.
