What do you people think about Boinc? And do you use it?

I couldn't make a link for Boinc because I haven't posted so much. But if you make a google search on: the homepage of Boinc you'll see what's it about.

Boinc is all about distributed computing which helps scientists around the world to speed up research in different areas.

I have run it for a couple of years. It is reducing data looking for gravity waves. Doesn't seem to affect my Mac's performance.

Well... it depends on what projects one is running. I'm active in 21 Boinc projects currently and have been running Boinc for several years.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/

I used seti@home for a long while, before it metamorphosed into BOINC. I did use that for a bit, but one thing and another, I let it lapse.

Maybe now you've reminded me about it, I'll start it going again. I like the figure on their front page... just over a petaflops average, today.

I also used Seti@Home before boinc took over. I'm not sure I like the whole setup Boinc has... and I'm like 99.9 sure I've got a slower connection to their server now than back when I was on 28k.
