I have an older suround sound system that goes into my TV with normal AV cables. The TV has an HDMI port in the back. I'm going to be getting a blu ray DVD player in a few weeks. I want to get one with an HDMI port so I can use the port on the TV.

If my surround sound does not have HDMI, will I get the surround sound coming out to the reciver/ speakers if its not HDMI? It should work right?

Doesn't your HDTV have an audio left/right connection for each of the different video inputs? There usually is also an audio left/right out connection which is for connecting all the HDTV's audio inputs to a stereo system at the same time.
