I installed some "Windows Antivirus" that popped on my screen and now I can't remove it from the program files, and it's causing lots of problems. Where do I take the computer to fix it?

It sounds like you have a rogue anti-virus program. Get SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and clean it out. I once saw a friend who had a piece of spyware called VAV (Vista Antivirus), which looked just like Windows Security Center (but wasn't). It would always pop up warning him that he had viruses and to "upgrade" the program. You couldn't close the pop-up or anything, so it was literally threatening him.

That bad, never click on the blinking advertisements, they can be very difficult to remove as they tend to be loaded with spyware.
There are free antivirus programs you can use, such as Avast Antivirus which alot of members here are using.
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
Removing that program you installed, is going to take some work, you are going to have to kill its process, by doing a ctrl alt del to open task manager, then go to the processes tab and look for the program, highlight it, and end its process, the you should be able to remove it, make sure your browser is closed the go to the control panel and add remove programs and uninstall it. Next you are still going to have spyware installed, use a program called Spybot, its a free program that will clean most spyware, just follow the instructions. http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
If your still using Internet Explorer, stop using it, and download FireFox which is safer to use, http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/
once you install it, you can also configure it to block ad's with the AdBlock Plus which is an add on for firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox Hope this helps you Greeentea

No, Spybot is really ineffective these days. SUPERAntiSpyware might clean 80% of all spyware, whereas Spybot might clean only 10%. Spybot and Ad-Aware used to be the best, but not anymore.

If its the XP 2008 antivirus, you cannot remove it. It actually imbeds and replaces some windows files. To get rid of all of it is to fry your windows installation. If thats the antivirus virus you're talking about, the only way to remove it is to format your computer.

And you don't have to click something or download something to get it. I managed to, and I never click stupid flashy banners. Just try taking the comp to a store that does repairs, they ought to be able to fix it. Or you can try at home with the recovery CDs or recovery partition, whichever one your computer has.

Formatting DOES ERASE EVERYTHING. So make sure you have some way to back up everything you like.

Thank you guys and also to the person who PMed me. I've tried the things you mention, but this pirate of the web is smarter... The program can't be removed and the name is not identifiable in the task manager... I've managed to deactivate the constant pop-ups at least...
