I recently converted my Compaq EVO workstation from a server, to a workstation. This is the computer that I installed XP on. I was watching a video on it, with headphones plugged into the headphone port on the front, and there is an INSANE amount of static/hiss coming out of it. My Mac, has almost ZERO static/hiss. Why is this ocurring? Is it something I'm doing wrong? Is there any way to lessen/illiminate it?

Need more details on you system specs, what you have tried, and what you have not tried. Are you certain the front head phone jack is connected to the motherboard properly? Is this even on-board audio or a sound card?
From the software side, ensure that your drivers are up to date.
