Ok firefox has just started misbehaving, for some reason it locks the top and bottom ubuntu panels from sight and does not move so that I can access them. To sort this out I open a new tab then go File-quit when the 'caution you are about to close tabs' comes up I press cancel and as if by magic the panels become visible, if icontinue browsing the panels get locked out of sight and are unacessable again

I have removed and reinstalled firefox using Synaptics but the problem persists, although I do not think it it was properly removed becaue all my old bookmarks are still there

Presently I am using epiphany

HELP PLEASE :?

you go to accessories - take screenshot, then upload to photobucket or something and use the insert image thingy on here.
were you messing around with compiz? It's unclear to me what you mean that you can't access the panels.
is it something like what is described here http://www.wiredrevolution.com/gnome/fi ... th-firefox

My Firefox in Ubuntu is still favouring British spelling for some reason. Oh well, I can deal with a few errant "u's" inserted into certain words.

By the way, has Ubuntu been updating more frequently lately? I've gotten kernel updates for the last three days running, and that doesn't seem quite right- I never have to reboot for updates this frequently.

I assume it's fixed now

Orwell, I have had a bunch of updates that has involved restarting my computer also.

Have you tried going to preferences - content - languages to seew what it is set as? Or when you're typing to reply you can right click and select language. It should tell ya what language or dictionary it's using. I guess if it says en_uk you can change it to en_us

The odd thing is that Firefox is set to prefer en_us, but looking at the "languages" from right-click it gives my English/United Kingdom. My spellchecker is behaving now, but new questions are raised- what is the difference between en_US and English/United States? They are presented as separate options, as are en_GB and English/United Kingdom as well as en_AU and English/Australia. Oh well, probably no difference.

If Mozilla Firefox causes problems, it could be nice to have another browser in the system. Opera is a good one and rpmfind.net have packages on it too.
