Newfound Comet Lulin to grace night skies
Comet bright enough to observe with binoculars and possibly the naked eye

Image
Sid Leach photographed comet Lulin from his backyard in Scottsdale, Arizona on Jan. 27, 2009.

During the next few weeks, a fine comet bright enough for observation in binoculars and possibly even with the naked eye will provide a fine skywatching target when weather permits.....

According to the data in http://www.heavens-above.com/comet.aspx ... F2007%20N3 it is already slightly past its closest approach to the Sun - and it won't be back again for nearly 50 million years.

BTW, that's quite some orbit - 1.121 A.U. x 269391.899 A.U.! That's 4.26 light years - far enough that it could be easily dislodged from its orbit by the gravitational influence of other stars.
