What possessed Microsofr to make this. Any improvements they made in IE 7 where destroyed by useful features and bloat!! ! Who the hell uses recommened websites and all this other crao. I guess the only smart thing they dad is set up a portable malware scanner for downliads. Which Firefox already did. Don't even get me started with Slices and website probing. [Big invasion of privacy!! !] Also IE 8 is very unstable and crashes everything else!!

Why doesn't Microsoft apply to standards like everyone else!! ! Better yet why didn't Microsoft build on their last really good browser, Internet Explorer 5.

Stay with Firefox people!! ! IE 8 is not an improvment in fact it is worse then IE 7!!

I would say it seems that Microsoft's quota is to do less with more. That is why I switched to Ubuntu. Now my system seems to get faster and better with each update.

I am definitely staying with Mozilla Firefox. that micro soft internet explorer 8 is such horrible. I tried downloading it a couple of weeks ago and all it did was freeze my computer. Firefox is much better and faster.

woohoo... after 4 weeks of continuous usage, I finally got my first Chrome 2.0 crash - and almost nothing happened - and it restored my folders.

What's this internet explorer thing? why would you want to drive a truck full of dirt (or worse) when there's a Ferrari available?

I've been playing around with IE8 by using it as my primary browser for a little while. There's nothing fantastic about it, but it isn't some sort of unusable buggy disaster.

If there is not that many features well then It shouldn't be a memory hog. While the Open-Source community has opened to people with older setups Microsoft hasn't. My old laptop ran IE 7 fine as well as Firefox 3. However IE 8 is repeatedly giving me script errors. Have trouble loading up paging and is a slower than molasses when loading up. On a clean install of XP Pro SP3. Lets just go back to IE6 with some many useless features but not enough backbone in terms of security.

Haha! I know that feeling...

Though, I just finally broke down downloaded the newest one every now and again to a thumbdrive. No sense risking the health and safety of my machine.

Oh wait, I use linux. :P

Another thing I hate about Microsofts setup is they insist on imbedding that IE crap in EVERYTHING. Windows Explorer gets crapped when IE updates, as they are the same thing. Now, not only can I not get on the internet, but when I try to access files stored on another computer, mine craps itself and cries alone in the corner.

My main complaint isn't even with MS though... it's with the bloody webmasters who think it's funny to write ONLY for IE. I cannot access a lot of the online job qualification tests in FF, or I get really nasty looking code.

Actually with IE 7 Microsoft got rid of the IE integration for security purposes. Hell the only thing Microsoft has that makes you use IE is Windows Update.

For the most part even Microsoft supports Firefox. With WMP and .net Framework extentsions and so on.

Still the same build though, just not as closely tied together. 8 takes it further, but they are still to close for my liking, security wise.
