Original DEFINATELY. Sailor Moon was WAY better when I saw the japenese one. Winx Club was much less corny when I saw it in Rai English. -Power Girl

I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer English dubs. It feels more comfortable to me that way, especially if the characters in the anime are European, such as in Hellsing and Trinity Blood.

normally when I can I use both at the same time.

but yeah often subs, especially fansubs are better as they can be more creative in their translation (see 'you emo kid' as what when Athrun said when he took down Shinn's Gundam in the last ep of Gundam Seed Destiny. Another one would say 'you moron' or 'you idiot'. The English Dub of GSD was cool, they said "You Crazy Bastard" instead lol.

If prefer the dubs of any anime where the Japanese version has girls who sound like they inhaled helium. Otherwise I have to turn the sound off to stay sane.

In most cases I prefer dub. Some dubs are horrid and in those cases I prefer subs.

Well dubbed One Piece has literally skip some fillers and arc to be where they are now. Thats plain dumb because that pissed off a lot of fans of the original Japanese series.

Subs all the way, fansubs too. Dub VAs just don't do it for me. So many of them lack the talent needed to hold it together. Also, you rarely have any information changed on you in a sub (not always true of course.)

If I'm really into a show, I'd watch the official sub and maybe a fansub or two. Just to get a good idea of the translation. Plus, I know a wee bit of Japanese, listening to them talk helps me pick up more.

it depends. I almost always watch subs, but if I'm lazy or its on TV, I'll watch dubbed (e.g. Death Note). Subs are a lot better because the voice acting is better. But I have a friend who's said that he would shoot himself before he watched DBZ in Japanese.

That's why Super Smash Brawl was more fun in Japanese because the voice acting was not only better, but subtle too (Pokemon Trainer is unbearable).

I tend to prefer the subbed translation better than the dub most of the time. Also, some of the english voice acting is enough to make me cringe, especially if I saw the japanese version first.

Usually dubs here. If I'm watching a sub I sometimes catch myself just reading the show, and I prefer to focus on the animation. I've got the same problem with comics.

Unless the script is bad (first disc of Kaleido Star), or the voice actors are just wildly wrong for the part (Love Hina), I'll go with the English version. Animation has a long history of dubbing into foreign languages successfully (in the past it was usually from English to another language), so I don't find it to be a particularly large blow to the original intent. This rings more true to me in the case of anime since most of the animation is created before the Japanase VAs add their signature to the role.

One thing I do wish they'd do more of in dubs, though, is using honorifics. Especially in shows that are strongly associated with Japanese culture.

I don't care either way. I normally go for the dub since I'm more used to watching anime that way, but I don't mind subs.
