Who do you think is better at playing the male lead in Criminal Intent? Vincent D'Onfrio or Chris Noth? I thought Noth was good in the original but D'Onfrio can simply just play his character well. I think it may be that he had another movie to shoot or something.....he's been very busy lately.

True. I really have always liked D'Onfrio in almost everything he has been in. Including Full Metal Jacket.

There was an episode where he said he might have aspergers I believe.

If you're all referring to episodes of the show, it doesn't matter because it's fictional.

I don't remember Chris North, and Vincent D'Onfrio is amazing.

Vincent D'Onfrio is horribly cast, in real life he could never be a cop.

I've only ever seen Chris Noth in Sex and the City. I can't imagine him in an even remotely serious role, whatsoever.

Don't watch the show regularly, although D'Onofrio is an excellent actor (remember him as Orson Welles in Ed Wood?) I like D'Onofrio's character a lot. He reminds me of the policeman from Dostoievsky's Crime and Punishment.

Frankly, though, I'm sick of all these cop shows--especially the L&O's--dominating the airwaves. They're full of slick, smug, self-satisfied cops who are so jaded and desensitized that they can make jokes about and pass judgments on dead people. I used to love Richard Belzer's character Munch on Homicide (a *great* show that should never have been cancelled) and now I can't even stand to watch him. (I do love the irony of Ice "Cop Killer"-T playing a detective.) And then there's the lawyers--what a self-righteous bunch they are, especially Sam Waterson's character. Does he ever smile?
I know that a certain amount of desensitization is necessary on the job, but I think it's taken to an extreme. I'd like to see more episodes where the cops and lawyers have to deal with people who know their Constitutional rights and aren't afraid to use them.

I'm also sick of seeing cops deified. We live in a police state. And we forget that cops aren't just "armed clergypersons"--they're human, and make mistakes. And those mistakes can ruin or end lives. That's why I like the new ABC show InJustice, where a group of lawyers works to correct cops' and other lawyers' mistakes and uncover their cover-ups.

So. please, if anyone from the networks is listening: We've got enough cop and doctor shows. Let's have some variety, for Gawd's sake![/u]

That movie is GREAT! Although if I ever ended up in the military I'd probably end up like that :(

I prefer D'Onofrio, but I have warmed to Noth. If I had to choose between the two, Noth would be sacked immediately.

Had an eye on him since Mystic Pizza, back when he was Phillip Vincent D'Onofrio, even the mouthful of a name got my attention-wondered how to pronounce. Find him wondrously chameleon-like.

Didn't see Homicide when it started, but was devoted to it once I started watching. Lots of very interesting actors, to my mind. Esp. was excited about "Subway" episode in which D'Onofrio starred, as the victim. (PBS even did a whole special about the making of the episode-that was such great fun to watch !)
Yes, it's way odd to have Ice-T as Mr. Status Quo on S.V.U. (Back when I watched I'd call it Law & Order SUV, to amuse myself).

Yeah, why isn't it sexy & thrilling when ordinary characters are in the right & the powers that be are in the wrong ?

Agree, seriously-personally know how broken the "in-justice" system is. Don't watch tv, but glad to hear of this show.
Sorry, forgot all about Noth. He was before my time on Homicide (think he re-appeared briefly), never saw Ally MacBeal (sp?), so I've not much opinion on him.

I just saw an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (the one with D'Onofrio) that featured an Aspie. He was an insurance guy who ended up being responsible for this complex and elaborately patterned series of insurance fraud crimes that involved killing homeless people.

I think the show did a good job of portraying an Aspie....I recognized him as one right away, and while this character was a pretty extreme Aspie, I thought he was well portrayed. The only thing I had a hard time believing is that he would have been the "mastermind" behind a scheme like this, especially the part where they intimated that the other guy involved was afraid of the Aspie. Yeah, right.

I think D'Onofrio's character has Aspie leanings, but D'Onofrio himself is anything but, and his real personality seeps too far into his L&O character to allow him to really be Aspie.

Now Grissom on CSI.....that's my kind of Aspie. I *totally* relate to him.
