I have really liked the movie Excalibur ever since I saw it on cable when I was about six.

When I was a child I saw the Hollywood sand and sandal epic of Mika Waltari's book "The Egyptian" and I was also introduced into the concept of being obsessed with a body of litrature. I preferred the book, more, and have read it at least 20 times.

"Desiree" became my next obsession, also from a book that was much better than the movie and "Gone With The Wind" where seeing it on the big screen was fantastic, when I was a child. I also liked the book better because as with "Forever Amber" (another turkey of a movie made from a book) the Hayes office of internal movie censoring was very heavy in the 1950's. Even so, the Catholic Legion of Decency banned "Forever Amber" in Boston, (which is where the phrase "Banned in Boston!" entered into history meaning everyone now, just had to see it and the box office receipts were HUGE!

I was obsessed with Mozart and "Amedeus" from the moment it was released. Years later in my sophomore year of college, we staged the play by Shaffer and it took us 9 months to do it. I persisted in my almost ritualistic watching of the movie and listening to the sound track until the obsession faded away around 1998.

Then sometime in 2003 I watched a movie that sparked that old preservation and "Master and Commander: On the Far Side of the World" I wore out the video on that one and bought a DVD player and the DVD and had it in my backpack if the need arose where I would have to remember a specific scene exactly . It has the function of 'subtitles for the hearing impaired" that I memorized every line.

I wonder who is dreaming up my new obsession. . .

Merle

because of his stupid face... i am just taking
things in stride till this phase of mine dies out...
coz i have no rationalization for this obsession
except i find him in a sick way hot. i hope this
ends soon though. :?

I've been obsessed with a few movies, mostly A Bug's Life. Some others include The Brave Little Toaster (when I was little), Monsters Inc., Balto, Ice Age, Robots, and some others I'm probably forgetting at the moment. ^^

Happy feet or The pacifier. I really want the love guru. I went through an extreme toy story phase, robin hood, and peter pan phase. One time I lost my buzz action figure and my mom said they had to dig through the trash. :P

Probably Godard's Le Mempris (Contempt).

I have been obsessed with

(Not in order)
Home Alone
Jurassic Park
101 Dalmatians
A League of Their Own
James Bond
The Aristocats
Titanic
Beauty and the Beast

Now it's Benny & Joon of six years off and on. I have liked Vision Quest and Mozart and the Whale only because they were Spokane. The rest I didn't really like. Home of the Brave was okay but not my favorite. I thought "Buck Fush" t shirt was funny the kid had on and the school had a problem with it and called his father and he had a problem with it too but yet supported his son wearing the t shirt because of free speech.

I have also liked Bed of Roses because of Mary Stuart Masterson and Fried Green Tomatoes.

Look at my avatar to know my movie/ book obsession. I just hope that the movie will come out and the legal fight over it will be resolved.

Oh let's see, the only two I remember obsessing over before 2000 were Jurassic Park and Twister. After that it was the LOTR trilogy. With that, I ended up going through a OCD spree of seeing the three films in theaters, 6 for the first, 12 for the second, and 18 times for Return of the King (thank god for $2 theaters). Besides those, Donnie Darko, Children of Men, Leon: The Professional, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Amelie, Serenity, and currently the Dark Knight and WALL-E.

One of mine was the LOTR trilogy as well. It's been a couple of years since i stopped watching them obsessively, but I still have all of the dialogue memorized...lol :D

I've had Labyrinth memorized since I starting speaking. I even used a Sarah monologue for several auditions and theater classes. I always got counted off for using a movie monologue, but I already had it memorized! That, and I have a passion for it.

Before it, I would watch The Little Mermaid 10+ times a DAY, but Labyrinth took over and has stayed on top of my movie charts.
