It was amazing. I won't reveal anything for those who haven't seen it yet, but needless to say, it is worth the price of admission.

I saw Star Trek yesterday and it was very good. I have never been a fan of the series or the movies, but I enjoyed this movie!

I loved it also. I just started watching the original series because the movie was so good!

I just saw the new Star Trek movie, and I found it... "fascinating."

In other words, I was pleasantly surprised! It's not easy for me to enjoy a movie with so many young characters in it, but I did. Though I wonder how much I would've liked it if I hadn't been somewhat TOS-nostalgic. Maybe I'm more of a Trekkie than I realized...

By the way, did anyone else notice that the crewmember who gets killed in a creative fashion was an Unimportant Guy In Red?

And SPOOOOCK is the new KHAAAAN.

I couldn't help but notice the similarity in the way that an enraged Nero screams "SPOOOOCK!! ! SPOOOOCK!! !"

In the Star Trek movie, the party of three who dive onto an orbital drilling platform includes one member in a red suit, Chief Engineer Olsen, who recklessly waits until the last second to deploy his chute and falls into the drilling beam.

In addition, the cadets at Starfleet academy commonly dress in red, and when they are called to man the ships heading to Vulcan they are all killed when the ships are destroyed; those boarding the Enterprise avoid that fate.

One could also look at it this way. It was a movie that could have gone two ways. Like with Watchmen, it was highly anticipated and hyped. Unlike Watchmen, it was well done and was reviewed positively. As I said in another thread, I thought the change of the reality was a fascinating way to introduce new people to the franchise while not stepping on the feet of the fans of the original series. As with any project of this size, there ARE going to be people who don't like it. It was nice because while re-imagining the characters and changing things it did not negate the continuity of the established media already produced, ie Spock from the future of reality-prime. Even mentioning how George Kirk was close with his son in the original reality and how instead of Spock taking 18 years to reconcile with his father, it happened more quickly. Also, the fact that they were willing to REALLY shake up things and destroy planet Vulcan, basically causing the Vulcans to seek reunification MUCH earlier than in the original time-line. I wonder how they will deal with the Klingons in the sequels which after how well this one was done WILL be coming.

My brother and me thought he was screaming, "**********! !! *********! !!" It was funny, because he used to have a boss that would do that. We were even talking about it earler that same day.

I loved it and want to see it again and again and again!

Anyway, I saw Star Trek this weekend. I thought it was pretty good. I really liked that Kirk better.
However, he got hit in the head so often I think he would not be so brilliant anymore. Or so good looking.
I loved all the Vulcan stuff. Though the whole idea of Vulcan being destroyed does create some continuity gaps.

Well the continuity gaps are not there as you say. The movie is set in alternate timeline created when Nero went back in time. Old Spock is from the main timeline. That was one of the neat things about the film. He managed to create a whole new franchise if you will, without destroying the established continuity of the media that has been established over the past 40 years. So, the timeline of the Star Trek of the past 40 years still exists. They can still write novels set after Nemesis and still create media based off that. The new movie is a way to introduce new people to Star Trek without completely alienating the fans of what has come before. That is what was so clever about it.

This time travel thing always is rather confusing. But nevertheless it was a very good film.
