I am new here and there isn't an American Idol Topic here. Hmmmmm.
Well I am going to start it. I love this show as much as life itself. I love when they show the bad singers during the auditions, like Mary Roche, and Leroy Wells. Who could forget William Hung? He is tone-deaf and looks like he has Down Syndrome. Some people have the nerve to sing this badly on public television. Good Lord! Then there are the over-confident people with not as much talent as William Hung's thumb. Good thing Simon is there to put them down. Remember the cruise ship singer Joe, who had his fanclub following him, and after a bad perfomance he was crying because he didn't make the next round. He deserved it. Another this is the Malfetta brothers. Can you say desperation? They were cocky and un-talented. I despise Scott Savol. He looks like Jabba the Hutt, and has the personality of a wall. He looked like a fool out there last night 3/07, I hope he gets the boot tommorow. He is appaling to look at and is probably a rapist or serial killer. I voted for Mario because he has the "IT" Factor that is going to make him the next American Idol. I also think Carrie Underwood is amazing. She is adorable and has a beautiful voice. What do you all think of the show?

I love American Idol, but I cannot watch the first stage of auditions, they puposely humiliate people and Simon needs to just say no, not go on about how bad they are. This season, Bo is head and shoulders above the rest, no one can touch him, especially after that rendition of "Whipping Post". The girls' voices sound all alike to me, I think they're all OK, none of them are very good. Well, Nadia is pretty good. I think the top 4 should be Bo, Anwar, Constantine and Nadia.

I find the Auditions funny.

I usually only watch those, except for the second(I think) season, because I had a crush on Clay Aiken.

People that can't sing really shouldn't audition.. they're asking for it, they know what he's like.

I only started watching American Idol when we started watching it in Choir so we could watch a contestant from McDonald County in Missouri (directly south of my county, Newton) and to learn how to sing. But when I saw the auditions, I had a sensory overload because I am very pitch sensitive. If someone is off-pitch or tone-deaf, my ears hurt and my hands tremble with the pitch. Plus Simon is much too harsh on the contestants. I can't see why NT's enjoy seeing people criticized.

I don't really like a lot of the 2005 contestants. I liked Jessica Sierra(who still deserves to be in the competition instead of tone-deaf Scott Savol, (who looks like my worst enemy from school)... why did Jessica get taken out?) and, for just this time, Constantine Maroulis (he's got charisma but doesn't sound nice when he's screaming).

yo chris, you dont listen to rock much huh? Constanine has an awsome rock voice (yes, even when he is screaming) I will buy his CD day one one selves. Simon ain't being mean, he is telling te truth, sure he is blunt, but it is HIS money he will be spending on the winner soo.

Chris,

I do not pretend to understand why NTs or anyone for that matter wants to watch a show whose sole intent is to insult others.

I don't watch American Idol, but i have seen a few episodes. I'd rather watch other reality shows.

I love the episodes early in the season when the people suck. Basically everything that Simon says is spot on, and I have never disagreed with him. He's just honest (I'm actually like him).

I only laugh at those who deserve to be laughted at. By going on those shows they bring it upon themselves.

omg people here have actually done it.

Anyway I like the auditions. The other day this psychic woman tried out and said she was goning to get in the top 10, se didn't sing a word in tune.

Simon is hilarious.

Simon is an evil genius. His much needed insulting (yet true) criticism is what every reality show needs. I only watch auditions, after that I'd rather listen to myself or my own music.

I'm the same way with musical instruments. If I hear a flute out of tune (or any high pitched instrument)..... :x .....ear splitting off-pitch headache causing. I'm getting that way with singers too after having been in choir for almost 2 years now..... it's considered a "gift" or "talent" to be able to tune by ear.

I love watching people being criticized. But, I can be a very sadistic person at times. And the fact that bad singers don't know they're bad amazes me. I tend to be blunt and tell people when they think they're good but aren't. I'd be like Simon if I were in his position. I don't see why people hate him so much. :?

If you think Simons bad, you should have heard me complaining about this Buffy the Vampire Slayer thing I watched.

Why do people have a problem with Simon’s criticism? There tying to find a professional singer. To judge the applicants against any thing other than the professional standard is just patronising.

I think they throw in people now and then that sound like crap just to make the better ones sound good for entertainment.
