I'm under the impression that Lady Gaga has it.

I also suspect Lady GaGa! She was an outcast in school, has an unusual dress sense, comes across as ackward in interviews and has a strange way of thinking...

Plus she reminds me of my friend who is currently undergoing assessment for AS.

Why Amy Lee?

I thought of Amy Lee based on what I've read about her as a child and seeing her in interviews.

This thread has STUNNED me... I am 48, female, recently diagnosed with AS traits (though I think it goes deeper than that). My brother has it, my Dad had it. Recently it dawned on me that the men I tend to fancy are "emotionally unavailable", as the phrase is, simply because they too are on the spectrum. Everything fell into place when I realised that. And I do have a bit of a crush on David Mitchell, too...

Re Paul Simon: I could never listen to I Am A Rock as a kid because I was pretty friendless and I was terrified I'd end up like that. Took years to realise he was probably singing about himself...

Kieth Olbermann, of MSNBC's Countdown with Kieth Olbermann has often been included on lists of celebrities with Asperger's. He grew up collecting baseball cards, a passion he never grew out of, and went on to becoming a sportscaster. These days, he's a far left leaning political commentator, who has a monomaniacal rage against far right fruit cakes and bigots.
I've seen H.P. Lovecraft included on the list - which I agree, he doubtlessly was. But his fellow fantasy writer, Robert E. Howard, who gave the world Conan the Barbarian, I am certain was also an Aspie.

Bill, otherwise known as Kraichgauer

Not sure if its been mentioned in this post. Its apparent that Dan Akroyd had aspergers, media is not sure if diagnosis was self-made.

Found out that piece of information just after I watched an episode with him as a guest star on the Nanny.

I am mostly a Rock and an Island. I think there is an aspect of sadness to this. On the other hand there is a simplicity and a strength to it also. Trade Off time.

Courtney Love was diagnosed with autism as a kid.
I don't know if he counts as a celebrity, but Vernon Smith (2002 Nobel Prize winner) has Asperger's.

I have not heard that Spielberg has it.

Peter Tork, John Lennon, Ray Davies, and Craig Nicholls prob'ly do. The others you mentioned don't even seem REMOTELY Aspie!! (except possibly Janis, but I think a lot of her "strange" behavior was more drug-influenced than anything)

If Lady Gaga's Aspie, you might as well consider me to be Bruce Springsteen!! 8O

I think somebody may have already mentioned it but Gary Numan has claimed to have asperger's.

I am pretty sure George Carlin had it. In interviews I notice he has a lot of trouble making eye contact and stims a lot. Also his sense of humor was very aspie"ish", a lot of wordplay and off the wall observations. I would imagine a lot of comedians are on the spectrum.
