On actress Michelle Pfeiffer
Michelle Pfiieffer is indeed a very beautiful and talented actress.
I saw her in Grease II (a terrible movie) and she could sing, dance a little and act. I saw her in Dangerous Liasons (sp?) (an excellent movie) and saw her in Hairspray - she still looks fantastic!!
I mentioned this in another post about movie stars bodies and looks. Aside from obviously being an attractive person genetically - Ms. Pfieffer works at keeping her body in shape and her skin in good condition because IT'S HER JOB.
I do not know what her personal plan is - but I know that some people in her profession spend literally hours per day with personal trainers. They hire nutritionists and, sometimes, personal chefs. They have dermatologists to help them keep their skin in optimum health and condition. They have purchase and use good quality skin care products. They have professional hairdressing regularly.
It is this type of professionals job to maintain this look. People with other types of jobs (nursing, teaching, admin/office, labour, technical, trades, service, etc) work 8-12 hours at our jobs doing what they do. They don't have more time to spend 4 hours with personal trainers every day on top of their work. I don't expect Michelle Pfieffer to be good at our jobs, I don't expect us to be able to play roles that are offered to Ms. Pfieffer.
She is no more focussed at her "job" of looking good in preparation for film roles than any professional is for doing their job well (except that for most other professionals - the time is spent on reading professional journals, keeping up with their industry, etc. rather than spending hours at the gym in prep for movie roles).
It is nice that this particular actress is honest enough to share that her looks take work. This way, other middle aged and older women who have regular jobs don't look at her and then feel that their own appearance is somehow not good enough. If most of us spent the amount of time and effort that she does in looking good - we'd all look like movie stars (well, maybe not quite like Michelle Pfieffer, but we'd all look pretty darned good!).
She sounds to me like she doesn't understand how beautiful she is. People's self image is dependent on how they feel more than what reality is. I had a much better body image at 175 pounds than I did at 120. Like the previous poster said, it's her job to look good, and she has probably been told to change her look in one way or another for whatever movie she makes or appearance she participates in. That has to ware on you some. Look how anorexic people are in the movies, and how gross they look, and when they gain 10 pounds and look great, like Katherine Zeta Jones for example, the media plasters all over every paper how fat they are.
