Ah Mormonism at it's finalist

You hit the nail right on the head!! !! South Park does a good job at highlighting this. So to them, if it so happens that (hypothetically) a woman and I have a child before we get married, does that constitute a sin?

I'm still saying that Kristen Stewart is throwing her acting career by taking such a stupid role. But heck, I'm waiting for the real-life love child between her and Robert Pattinson. It's bound to happen eventually.

No she isn't. Since she can only put a blank expression on, she's a crappy actress anyway, but also, even though this is a crappy role, it's a crappy role that idiots like, so her "career" will unfortunately continue.

I partially disagree. I liked her in Adventureland,, and in Speak as well. But yeah, Twilight is far from my forte.

I've been wanting to watch Adventureland, actually, is it any good?

Is she really, or are you just saying that based upon your (correct) views on the Twilight franchise? I thought that Kristen Stewart was an indie movie darling before the whole Twilight thing, and she was doing it for the money, just like "R-Pattz".

Not true. Keep in mind that Twilight itself was originally filmed as an indie movie... nobody expected it to become as popular as it has. I miss the indie-type feel that the original had, the last two were killed with all the CGI (just like the 4th Indiana Jones was).

What I have learned from the Twilight series (and Harry Potter before that) is that NT's need something to obsessively follow, and then when they outgrow it or one of the actors does something 'terribly wrong' they diss it with equal ferocity (unlike people on the spectrum who obsess over things for their genuine love of the thing, not like it simply because everyone else does). Twilight (like HP) are like articles of clothing that come into fad, they'll be tossed onto the book/dvd shelf or into the dark depths of a closet only to be resurrected in another 20 years when their kids are their age, when some marketing exec decides to (heaven forbid) unnecessarily remake them, with his greedy eye on the all mighty $.

I hope the actors squeeze all the money they can out of the series, sadly that's really all that matters in the end anyway...

Man, NTs are so easy to make money from! :P

Ya know what they say, "a fool and his [or her, in this case] money are easily parted" :P

I'm going to reserve judgement on the Twilight series until such time as I've ... er ... FINALLY gotten around to reading the first book.

That said, my initial impression is that I shall most likely enjoy it, but neither love nor hate.

Anyhow...

As to the drooling over men that you find homely, think of it this way:

There aren't enough cute guys to go around as it is, really -- imagine how much fewer there would be if EVERYONE's taste was the same.

I thought twighlight would be terrible and everything my 12 year old said about it made me think 'ugh'. However when my 8 year old wanted me to read it to her (her readings not good) I found I really liked it and read ahead all the books in a couple of days.

Its much more pleasant to read than the other books my daughters like such as princess diaries and jackie willson. I think people are hard on it as they compare it with older peoples books or fantasy/horror books when that is not its genre and who it should be compared to. I think its just like any romance saga (catherine cookson or mills and boon) and better than most in that group. It would not be fair to compare any books from that genre with very good books/authors.

I dont think its as bad as people make out and Ive certainly read worse, much worse.

I think it funny how times have changed though as its definately not something I would have read as a teen, I liked steven king and james herbert at that age. At the time most young teens liked horror and hated love stuff, that was the sort of thing their mums liked, but its very different now as all the teen books are very 'girlie' and romance orientated, which I think reflects a 'anti-feminist' change in our society, and one set of books cant be blamed for over all societal changes.

Ive tried very hard to get my kids to read books I approve of better such as garth nix, phillip pullman and Eoin colfer but they are just not interested in them. I have to let them walk their own path, people like different things and twighlight is definately not as bad as princess diaries.

There are certainly worse books that are still popular, like Atlas Shrugged. I've never watched the Twilight film, and I don't intend to. Reading the first book is enough.

What annoys me is that Bella is so miserable. And also the books are like a cross between something by Jackie Collins and something by Jane Austin. Very bizarre. But the writer is minted now because she told a love story for teenagers with a supernatural twist that is simple enough for people to grasp.

I have read the first 3 books but I am not reading any more. I would like it though, if Bella becomes a vampire but then Edward dies leaving her devastated. Then she tries to get back with Jacob but he kills her! That would be an apt ending to the now boring and completely milked saga.

I detest Twilight, it's a total insult to the vampire mythology. Vampires DO NOT SPARKLE! If i want a PROPER vampire film, i'll watch..

The Bela Lugosi version
The Hammer Horror versions with Christopher Lee as the Count
The Lost Boys
Bram Stoker's Dracula - Watched it recently and it's the most faithful adaptation of the novel, Gary Oldman is EXCELLENT as the Count.
Blade 2
30 Days of Night

All said vamp films sh** all over Twilight.

I'm a girl and I LOVE Artemis Fowl. I read it when I was in middle school and I loved it. I heard Disney may be making a movie adaptation. I hope not. They ruin every book they touch. D:

Sir, your taste in vampire movies is impeccable. I say this because your list, although 2 movies longer, includes the same movies as mine.

As for Twilight, everyone talks about the sparkling, but where are their fangs?!
