Cool! I can't wait to read it!

Poorly written? They were written for tween girls, and the dialog and plot are appropriate in that context. I enjoyed them immensely (and my vocabulary is in the 95th percentile).

One of the best features of the books is that they were written from the first person perspective. I found it fascinating to read Bella trying to figure out what other people were thinking, especially Edward.

Even more fascinating was Edward, a telepath, trying to read the only person whose mind he is incapable of reading (at least until the end of the last book). It didn't help him that Bella didn't think or act like her typical peers, either. Of course, he guessed her thoughts and motivations wrong most of the time. That seemed like an awfully familiar experience to me.

The best part of the series, IMO, was the unfinished manuscript "Midnight Sun", which re-told "Twilight" from Edward's point of view.

As for the movies, not as good because they leave too much out.

As for the stars the OP mentioned - I've no idea what the fuss is about with them either. I don't think they're fugly, but I don't think they're attractive either. RP seems to smirk too much.

The Bela Lugosi version
The Hammer Horror versions with Christopher Lee as the Count
The Lost Boys
Bram Stoker's Dracula - Watched it recently and it's the most faithful adaptation of the novel, Gary Oldman is EXCELLENT as the Count.
Blade 2
30 Days of Night

All said vamp films sh** all over Twilight.

Sir, your taste in vampire movies is impeccable. I say this because your list, although 2 movies longer, includes the same movies as mine.

As for Twilight, everyone talks about the sparkling, but where are their fangs?!

Cheers, Bram Stoker's Dracula has actually convinced me to look for the Bela Lugosi version on LoveFilm, i just loathe Twilight with a passion.

They fit perfectly for the age group they are wrote for, and the simple fact is there is next to nothing in the genre for this age range of girls, which is why its exploded like it has, its a totally untapped market.

Whaat? Just because they're young doesn't mean it's an excuse to read garbage. There's an entire section at the bookstore for "young adults." Granted at their age, I was reading non-fiction and historical fiction because I wasn't into real fiction yet. :/

I thought 30 days of night was crap.

IMO the best vampire film was Near Dark.

The only thing original about the book is the idea that a vampire lives in a forest, doesn't drink blood, and sparkles in the sun. Except that's not a vampire... that's a blooming Fairy! ...

That's hilarious. And true.

Why do so many women drool over these two incredibly homely men?

I couldn't agree more, at least about Taylor Lautner. He's horrid w/ short hair and looks totally weird with long, As I've said to a girl friend, "the only thing pretty about him is his six pack." :lmao: As for Robert Pattinson, I wouldn't call him homely but neither do I find him particularly appealing.

Best vampire book and film ever is Let The Right One In

I have read the book about 5 times and seen the movie probably over 20 times.
