I watched this movie the other day. I loved it. It's really good. Most people I know just like to bash it though.

But I heard somewhere that they're going to make a remake is this true? Cause I don't think thats a good idea. Its like making a remake of Forrest Gump it would suck. 8O

Hi there!
I'm glad you enjoyed the Titanic because I did too, despite its flaws. :D I think it is a beautiful love story and it was well made, but I don't like the bit with all the people drowning so much. :( What did you think of Leonardo's and Kate's acting and the end song? "My Heart Will Go on and on" is one of my very favourites.

I didn't know if they were making a remake, but I REALLY hope they don't. :help:

I liked the end song it fit very well. I liked their acting. To be honest I cried and I'm a guy. 8O

My favorite parts are when Jack is trapped in the bottom of the ship and Rose goes and gets the axe and helps him. And when she jumps back into the boat and runs into his arms. Oh and the really sad ending was good. How he sacrifices his life for her by staying in the water and he tells her to live for him. :) Good stuff.

Yeah, I liked it, too! And I had the feeling, and I was later able to express it----Wow, this could be a whole new type of movie, part documentary (the robotic exploration of the sunker ship) and then this long, beautiful story with the framework of what we know is true.

I have never finished Titanic. I have tried watching it on three occasions and fell asleep every time. Sorry DiCaprio, it couldn't hold my interest. Sooooooooo boring. D:

Back when this film came out I thought it was good not THE greatest but a good film.

It still is in many ways. It set the standard for the 3hr big budget billion money maker films with the latest special effects.

Back when this film came out in 1997, this was a rare thing. I remember news articles talking about how Gone With the Wind was the only movie which was just as long.

Nowadays 3 hr big budget films are quite common.

I wasnt as hung up on the phenomenon but like I said it was okay.

But fastforward to 13 years later when I'm watching this film again and man...I'm like baffled that this film was such a hit. The writing was terrible and the story was cheesier than it was when I first saw it!! !

I know that this is a shallow reason to look down on a movie, but I can't help but to never forgive the movie for spawning the single most overplayed song of the 90s. I remember it being played in malls, at Taco Bell, school dances, just EVERYWHERE!! ! You couldn't escape that song. I haven't had a song that got on my nerves that much since that one song Bryan Adams did for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. It drives me nuts just thinking about it.

Titanic is one of my favorite movies ever. I was six when it came out, and my parents went to see it in theaters. When we finally bought the movie, they only let me watch Part 2, because they didn't want me to see Rose's nudity in the first part.

The actual Titanic story was one of my "narrow obsessive interests" when I was a kid. I read a TON of stuff about it--could have told you all kinds of facts about the ship, the crew, the passengers, etc. From the realistic standpoint (the costuming and set design) I loved this movie. The Rose/Jack storyline I didn't get into but all the other touches were fantastic!

the movie was an absorbing confection with historically relevant vignettes as garnish.

To see my thoughts on the Titanic just read Maddox's article.

It's a good movie. I watch it every few months or so.

I have written a prequel to the film. All 200 pages.

And no, it's not in my little world that you all like to make fun of either. The mother was one of my obsessions back then.

Thanks for the input. I feel as though I'm watching Student Court(Hey, it's a popular show back home) in which private school kids and public school kids butt heads(it;s more fun to watch cat fights when the girls go at it.)

A Night to Remember 1958, is in my opinion a better representation of the sinking and the grand ship. The former film covers the stories of people from 1st class, 2nd class, 3rd class and the crew. It also shows the story of the SS Californian and the SS Carpathia. It is a wonderful film and if you would rather re-live the RMS Titanic without too much romance. Although, the centre story is set around Lightoller. The effects are not brilliant, but for over 50 years ago, the effects are very exceptional.

BTW - The film is in Black and White, and it is not animated.
