I have been watching this too, it has inspired me a bit to start writing a novel I have been makeing in my head, but I do have some complaints about it being a bit slow. It has been interesting seeing the characters stories grow, also feels like it has a sense of realism that they are not getting instant success, and we get to see how the manga industry works. It is an interesting watch.

My favourite anime I have been watching recently is Shinryaku! Ika Musume (Invade! Squid Girl), which I have to say is one of the funniest anime of the year, the other being Baka to Test. Premise is a little squid girl who sees herself as an all poweful invader comes to rule humanity, you are going to definetly laugh (my sister ended up laughing so much she started crying) and even feel touched by the moe of the common senseless squid overlord.

(you will have to watch on a fansub site as youtube removed a majority of episodes)

I was a bit confused how they would do the romance in Bakuman considering what hapend in episode one, but it has been working out. And the part where the guy was popular was funny, and way he wanted to remove all missconceptions was good. I am kind of hoping that they do some more romance.

So are you watching Shinryaku! Ika Musume, if not I highly recomend it as it is great. LINK

Hey if you want a currtent show that reminds you of your childhood cartoons, then there is Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, it's style is very simular to the Power Puff Girls, and the show parodies American things like Sex in the City, Dawn of the Dead, Transformers. Warning! Despite it's child cartoon like appearance it is VERY adult, the characters do very graphic thing, and they only get away with the swearing as it is done in English.

Actually over the last few days I started a show called Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, well I have not watched a proper magical girl anime since I saw Card Captors as a kid, at first I did not think I would like it, but I found it so good that I had to slow myself down as I was getting too into it. I was cheering for the characters through my screen quite loudly. My obsessive tendencies can get a bit out of hand.

Whatever happened to watching things like Spirited Away for the plot line and the fact that they didn't always rely on big-busted girls and cuteness to become popular?

Today's Animes constantly rip off each other's already-staling ideas. Over here you see a happy schoolgirl with odd-colored hair and J-Pop playing as background music. Over there you see an essentially multi-episode pissing contest to see which character's the toughest and most badass. And in the corner you see an elaborate franchise that decided to produce a show on top of toys and video games.

I just don't see the hype behind those kinds of shows.
