I was wondering if anyone else here has seen this show. It recently started it's third season and the story hasn't lost it's edge yet.

In short it's initially and primarily about 3 room mates living in Bristol. The twist is that one of them is a vampire, another is a werewolf and the last is a ghost. Each of them has their own issues with fitting in with human society, together with the relation between the three of them, this is the focal point of the series.

I personally love the way each character introduced so far is written and portrayed (the cast is marvelous). The lore behind the mythical creatures present in the show are left ambiguous, revealing only what little understanding the main characters possess.

Despite initial concerns that they'd try to cash in on the vampire craze I think they've handled it very well. The vampires in the show are much more human than most vampires depicted in recent media. They've integrated into human society in a way that I've never seen, their nature in the series is different to most versions of vampires in several key ways but the writers never fail to remind us of what vampires are capable of.

The werewolves, my personal favorite of the present mythical beings, are phenomenal. Being actual werewolves and not just shapeshifters, lycanthropy is clearly defined as a curse in the show, the transformation process being extruciatingly painfull (depicted brilliantly by the werewolf main character) and the impact that living from one full moon to the next can have on someone is explored very well.

The ghosts are presented as what you'd typically expect a ghost to be, focusing more on how the ghost main character struggles to exist in a world she no longer belongs in.

----------------------------------------------------
It's one of the few shows that actually make me switch on the TV and capture my full attention. I can recommend this to people who're fond of regular dramas and to people who're fond of more supernatural shows with confidence that each will find something they can enjoy.

I think its an amazing show.

Has anyone seen the Scifi channel remake? I'm a bit hesitant to check it out because I'm sure that it will be awful.

I haven't watched it in ages, since the three of them lived in Bristol (I hear they moved to Wales). It was great; I need to catch up with the new series. :)

I too love this show. It is one of my favorites on TV and I have been regretting not getting BBC sooner to watch it, and the Who, but where I live BBC America is a premium channel for some reason.

As for the American version I haven't watched it, I don't want to, but I have heard mixed reviews about it. Naturally it can't compare with the original so that is one of the reason I don't watch it.

If it's anything like the americans (yes, i'm one of them) did to top gear, it's sure to be horrendous.

I'm not sure of the timing overseas, but the third season just started for us in the states. I was really glad to see this one come back. :-)

It's surprisingly decent. I'd recommend (as a fan of the original series and someone who is picky about tv in general) checking it out. It's not very far into the series, so far, but from what they've done to this point, I have high hopes.

I love this show ♥
I especially loved the zombie episode this season.

It is stupidly well written, still fresh and somehow manage to pull it off without the show seeming tacky. I love Russell Tovey and his character, but in all fairness they're all pretty attractive and good characters that work well together.

I'm currently watching Being Human on Sy-Fy, and so far I'm hooked. I know of the British original version, though I've never seen it. My favorite character is the werewolf; especially, I liked how he was looking to the other werewolf, Ray, as a mentor, till he found out just what a violent rat bastard he was - plus that Ray was the werewolf who had actually turned him and killed his friend.

Brilliant series - I particularly like Mitchell . George is just brilliant. I find Annie quite annoying though.

I've heard of it. All I really know is that Mark Pelligrino's in the American remake of it...
