Does anyone else watch this nonsense, or is it just me?

Agh. My friend is obsessed with anime, and has forcefully tried to shove her love of the shows made in this style on me. Of course, being the stubborn Capricorn I am, I don't exactly conform easily. Then she showed me one of most annoying, stupid and somewhat racist shows I have ever seen in my life. Hetalia is like about all the countries that are each represented by a very sterotypical person. Now, usually I hate that kinda stuff, cuz it's wrong and blah blah blah, but it's actually kinda hilarious at times and pretty cute. I don't know how they did with everyone else's country, but I can honestly say I'm satisfied with the character that's supposed to be the US of A.

So does anyone else watch Hetalia?

It's just you.

Shows like "Hetalia" would not be shown if they had no audience.

Can't say I've seen it, but several Anime series are like this to some degree or another. In a lot, especially their romantic comedies/ecchi, they're just plainly hilarious . . . an awkward hilarity, but funny nonetheless.

Unfortuantly I have not watched Hetalia, though I hear a lot of nice things about it, and I might get it if I see it on sale cheap enough.

I do watch a lot of other anime though, and I do find myself liking things that I would not normaly like in of the genre in other media, such romance, music, and even an anime about economics.

I watch and read a lot of anime and manga, but I can't say I've ever watched Hetalia.

I like some anime, but I think its stupid trying to force it onto other people. It only makes you look like an as*hole. Its what gives the anime fandom so many problems! The animation style is quite lazy, I wouldn't say its the best genre of cartoon either but I'm addicted to death note so yeah...

I don't like Hetalia from the very little of it i've seen of it. But I hear God appears in a few episodes and that intrigues my sense of absurd humor. I may watch it sometime.

I enjoy anime a lot. I find manga more preferable, that is Japanese comics essentially, since there tends to be more of it and I can go about it at my own pace. I've not read or seen Hetalia specifically, as I'm not particularly interested in that genre. I do own a lot of fanart of it though- I highly enjoy the digital art style of current day anime and love to just hoard images. <3

I prefer to read more fantasy oriented offerings with a demographic aimed at young females. Typically these types of series focus a lot more on social interaction and character relationships than other subsets of manga would. They also tend to have a more simplistic and 'bright' art direction, as well as a predominately male cast where many of the characters have more eccentric and effeminate personalities than the norm. My favourite series include 07-Ghost, Kuroshitsuji, Pandora Hearts, +C: Sword and Cornett and Shounen Hakaryuudo.

It's worth pointing out that anime and manga culturism spans a very wide and varied range of demographics that there's likely a subset that you might find interesting, just like other forms of media including games and films.

I recently found out (after reading this) that my sister was watching this Hetalia thing... hey I like anime but this one just wasn't my style.
No.... I need the kind of anime thats violent, action packed, and worthy of a videogame version.

yeah... I miss the good old days of dragon ball z. maybe I'll play the game... I should be asleep 'cuase it's late. but oh well...

I enjoy anime, but I could never get into Hetalia. It had all the makings of a show I would typically become obsessed with - in other words, it has good-looking male characters in it and a historical setting. But for some reason, it just didn't click with me. Same with Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji.

I've never seen this anime you speak of but I too am addicted to Death note! I don't like Anime on the whole any more because it starts to become confusing or repetitive after a while. HOWEVER if you want to see some true nonsense, watch this!

It's not anime, it's not Japanese (American) and it's completely and utterly devoid of plotline and sense... Yet I LOVE it! My brother got me into it originally :)

I'm going to assume that you've watched more than just Hetalia (which I've never seen), so could you please list some others? What sort of shows do you like? I wouldn't force it on anyone, but I think it would be foolish to not give it a proper chance. :?
