Great list.

I'd say that Back to the Future virtually has to be on there. Eighties, silly, good.

Other considerations: Spaceballs vs. Airplane? Should there be two Indiana Jones and Star Wars picks? Is E.T. of more than historical interest?

Other movies which stand out as being particularly eighties: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science.

Then there's more cultish, esoteric fare: Evil Dead, Raging Bull, Blade Runner, Brazil, Re-Animator, Blue Velvet.

Star Trek II should be closer to the first place in my opinion. Back to the Future was good. So was Raiders of the Lost Ark. The first terminator movie didn't seem that great to me, although for the time it would have been impressive. Short Circuit should be on the list more than E.T. I think.
