In your opinion of course.

I don't watch TV all that much so it is hard for me to know what to watch when I do. What show do you think is best and what would you avoid at all costs?

I'll second Community.

As for the worst, The obvious champion is still the long reigning MTV and VH1, it'll take a lot for someone to top them in the category of terrible stupid people driven TV, but they do have some aspiring competitors - The History Channels, The Discovery Channel or TLC. With similar story-lines as well, stations that started off with quality ideas and programing and now show stuff that is holy unrecognizable to what they once were. I get embarrassed about how awful their programing has become.

Living in Britain, you could be forgiven for thinking that US comedy is pretty poor. We are constantly bombarded with endless Friends, Big Bang Theory and the like. I realise it's all down to personal preference, but I consider all these cosy little sit-coms to be seriously naff! Then you get something like Curb Your Enthusiasm, which i've only known about for a short time due to it's being on some random channel at an hour when most of the country is in the land of zzzz. This show is total class! Having always been a bit of an "eh, what did he just say?" type of person myself, i totally get this guy! Even when he is being a total bast*rd, i still can't help routing him. As someone for who TV is usually background stuff, I still can't believe how sublime this show is! I don't think Larry David knows what a taboo is. It makes me wonder how many other cool shows we are denied from the states in favour of the 25th repeat of whatever episode from whatever series of Two and a Half Men!

Best: Boardwalk Empire + American Horror Story

Worst: Big Bang Theory + those singing contest shows. I don't know, there's like a dozen of them (or similar).

One of the best things on TV at the moment is The Killing (the Danish version, I haven't seen the American one). The second series has just started, hopefully it will live up to the first one. I also like reality shows that involve an element of skill, such as The Apprentice and Masterchef. I enjoy Merlin as well.

Are they acting or is it supposed to be a documentary? It's definitely the worst thing on TV along with Made in Chelsea. The worst thing is they've all become celebrities so you can't pick up a newspaper without reading about their exploits.

Breaking Bad has been unbelievably good, but is done for the season.

If we're talking currently airing shows, I'm really liking The Good Wife (very nuanced/morally complex legal drama that deals a quite fair bit with politics) and Parks & Recreation. Community is also great, but will be going on hiatus soon in favor of 30 Rock (which is also extremely smart/funny).
