Charlie Chaplin: the Gold Rush.
Laurel and Hardy: "The Sons of the Desert".
"Some Like it Hot"
"Young Frankenstein"
"Liar Liar"
"Groundhog Day"
"the Life of Brian"
"the Holy Grail"
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (have seen the low budget version, hope to see the hollywood version eventually).
"Dr. Strangelove"
There were some great comedic moments in "Beverly Hills Cop".
Not into the current fad of gross-out humor that younger folks seemed to love so much- so for me most of the film "Harold and Kumar in Guantamo Bay" the grossness cancels out the humor- but that one scene redeems the film.
The scene in which the two main guys get stoned with George W. Bush is SOOO funny! And its not even particularly partisan- whether you like Bush or not youll laugh your ass off.

i do not find many things funny that are presented to me as being funny.
there is a movie called "king of comedy" that i found hilarious (the one movie i ever found hilarious) and i would nominate that as my favorite comedy.
here is the first 11 minutes of the movie, and the person who posted this has the whole movie to show in 11 minute increments. other wise you can go to "isohunt" to get the whole movie in one file.
