The teen drama Degrassi recently introduced a character with Asperger's. He's more of a background character, though, because he doesn't do much in the series.

TV characters that seem like they could be aspies:

Sheldon (The Big Bang Theory)

Jacob Two-Two, as well as his friend Buford

Reid (Criminal Minds)

Dewey (Malcolm in the Middle)

SpongeBob

Ian (Being Ian)

Jimmy Neutron and his friends Carl and Sheen

This cat doctor guy who was sitting beside Lacey on a plane on the Christmas episode of Corner Gas

The entire cast of Asperger's High

Dr. Daniel Pierce from Perception is a paranoid schizophrenic, but he acts like an aspie at times. He avoided going to a baseball game because of all the noise and people. There was another episode where a group of people were taking photos of him and from all the flashing lights of the cameras, he runs out of the room.

The characters from Ben and Kate seem like aspies, because of their quirkiness.

Don Draper on Mad Men

I've never heard it proposed before, because I think the character does a fantastic job of hiding it.

I have my reasons for believing it, but I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed them.

Even though he is never identified as such in the show the most likely and most realistic aspie TV character Ive ever seen is "Brick"- the little boy in the family portrayed in the sitcom "the Middle".

After that I would list all of the usual suspects: Bones, Sheldon, Amy, NOT House, Sherlock Holmes.

I agree Brick has AS. There are several e[ospdes where he is in a social group. That is a really good show. Also I think in Modern Family the father (can't remember his name) Claire's husband has it as well as his son(sorry can't remember names.)

Hank Hill in King Of The Hill.
Having been a star athlete in high school, along with probably having been popular would normally dismiss him as a possible Aspie in my mind. But he has an obsession with propane that includes an encyclopedic knowledge on the subject, he seems to have an almost ritualistic sense of order and way of doing things, and seems to be completely incapable of reacting appropriately to emotional issues, or to understanding people outside his zone of comfort, such as his son Bobby. Hank is very good at selling propane and propane appliances, but I get the impression that that had been an acquired skill. Hank also sees his boss as the finest businessman - and man in general - he knows, despite the fact that the guy is a womanizing drunk who has to depend on reliable employees like Hank to keep his business going. Talk about an inability to read people.
I think a case could be made for his socially daft wife, Peggy, as well.

The Brain, from Pinky and the Brain is probably an aspie. He speaks in a monotone, is highly intelligent, has only one (inappropriate) friend, has a singleminded obsession with taking over the world, and no sense of humor. He also can use sarcasm, but seems to have difficulty reading it and has no interest in pop culture.

I also think Pinky is meant to have ADHD, and that the two showcase the two main kinds of pervasive learning disabilities and how they work against each other. (I might be stretching things a bit though...)

I think someone else in another thread mentioned Squidward. I identify with Patrick Star but I'm more of a Squidward. He just wants to be left alone with his clarinet (many Aspies are musical-not me though) and take bubble baths (which might be his "stim.")

Good point! I never noticed that Hank Hill showed signs of being an aspie.

Dexter (minus the whole serial killer thing of course)

The way he analyzes himself and the people around him seems similar to the way I think. He also tries to find loopholes to trick his mind into allowing him to fit into society.

Somepony from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Twilight Sparkle seems to be the one that's pinpointed the most, but I also frequently see claims for Fluttershy and occasionally Pinkie Pie.

I will I agree with Dexter being an Aspie to an extent. His flashbacks to being a teenager and a kid might indicate such (inability to pick up on a cue that a girl wants him to ask her to the prom, awkardness in teenager scenes, being taught to fake emotions, obsessions over a moral code, prefers time alone, etc). But his mother being killed while he was just a 3 year old kid and his ability to manipulate situations to stay out of trouble or get out of trouble show definite sociopathic tendencies. The character is even described by reviewers as being a sociopath. I agree with a sociopath description alone.
