Disney, you know. The guys who gave us THIS:

Only the greatest 90s cartoon next to Batman: TAS. Might be a glimmer of hope for Star Wars.

I'm not even gonna bother with Episode VII, it will just be a cheap knock off engineered to sell lots of toys to kids.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately, Disney these days has become a corporation more than a production house. There's a clear difference between their output of the Silver Age (the 90s), and what they're putting out now - Pixar did most of the donkey work animation-wise beyond the 2000s and up until Cars 2/Rattatouille, was arguably regarded as one of the best animation houses in the world, guaranteed Oscar-winners if you will. Now Pixar itself is wearing thin (Toy Story 3 bucking the odds for reasons too long to go into here), and Disney are struggling to come up with a new Pirates of the Carribean-esque franchise (Depp is quitting after the next one) Disney have turned to Marvel and now Star Wars. That isn't to say Disney won't make money off these - of course they will; they're market-savvy and very very powerful distribution-wise across the globe.

So we'll see what happens when Episode 7 appears -- I'm just curious at what Harrison Ford is supposed to do in it; he fought tooth and nail to retain the character of Hans Solo (spelling?) but he must be what, 60 now? Curiouser and curiouser...

I gave up on Star Bores after the first three movies in the canon. I also gave up on Disney when Walt died in the '60's. To me, Roy could never follow in his brother's shoes. Also, Michael Eisner was a charlatan. There hasn't been any good storytelling at Disney since Walt died. the only good storyteller I've seen come out of Hollywierd in the past 30 years are Ron Howard, Stephen Spielberg, and George Lucas. Problem is, I haven't seen anything of worth coming out of those three in quite a while.

Me being a Star Wars junkie, I can't wait to see how this unfolds and what the actual story will be. As for Disney, well they surely haven't made a mess of Marvel and such.
