SpongeBob SquarePants.
The old episodes of the show were full of creative and unique laughs. It wasn't annoying, and there are loads of memorable scenes (and episodes) that made me laugh.
But now, it's rubbish. Gross-out humour, ridiculously cheesy puns, and cliché storylines.
The characters have changed a lot as well (in a bad way). For example:
Old SpongeBob: Cheerful. Optimistic. Irritating to Squidward even though he just wants to include him in his games.
New SpongeBob: Annoying. Insanely optimistic. Creeps Squidward (and me) out.
Old Patrick: Lovably eccentric. A little bit slow. Friendly.
New Patrick: Tiresomely stupid. Too dumb to live. Extremely selfish.
Old Mr Krabs: Greedy. Loved money, but deep down, he still valued his employees. Rivals Plankton.
New Mr Krabs: A total miser. Has a money fetish and doesn't care about anything/anyone else. ALMOST DROVE PLANKTON TO SUICIDE
It lost its charm years ago. I think it needs to go.
I heard someone say that Patrick was supposed to represent today's American youth, SpongeBob represents what the youth SHOULD be today, but only a minority are, and Mr. Krabs is a representation of greedy corporate America/capitalism. That sounds about right now that I think about it.
