I won't spoil anything because its one of the greatest movies I've ever watched. But the ending to the original *lets all just forget the remake* Oldboy, In the end nothing went right for any of the characters

I usually prefer downer endings. My favorite spaghetti western(my favorite genre) is the great silence.

I hated the ending to "Gone Girl". But I rewrote it in my mind.

The ending to "My Life Without Me" was a downer indeed. You know it's going to happen, but it's still heartbreaking.

Not so much a "downer" ending as a "huh?!" ending (to an entire "huh?!" movie, IMO). All I could think was:
