So they've all now finally signed contracts

For the most part the 1mil per episode disgusts me for a few reasons. Sure some will jump in and defend it and say they're entitled to their share. I just can't justify anyone in the world being worth that or needing so much regardless of their job. What I find worse is the fact it's only three of them getting it

Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco closed new deals on Monday with studio Warner Bros. Television that puts them in Friends territory of about $1 million per episode, plus an increased percentage of the show's rich back-end (from 0.25 to more than a point, sources tell THR). The pacts for Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco are also said to include signing bonuses and overall deals with the studio.
Sources tell THR that Helberg and Nayyar's deals grant them 80 percent of the salary that Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco will receive in the upcoming eighth season, which escalates to put them on par with the the trio's $1 million an episode pay in season 10. The duo also will receive the same cut of the show's ownership as the leading trio do ? 1.25 percent, up from 0.25 percent in their previous deals.
The new deals for Helberg and Nayyar come after a rocky renegotiation with the studio, who sources tell THR viewed the duo as third-tier talent on the series.
For their part, co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch secured pay increases in September that bring their per-episode salary from the $30,000 ballpark to roughly $60,000 per season before nearing $100,000 per half-hour by the end of the pacts.

They ALL make the show what it is and in my opinion it's Simon Helberg that holds it up best. Howard connects with every single character. Penny and Leonard are nothing unless mixed with Sheldon who in turn is nothing really without any of the others. Have lost a bit of respect for the three top earners after all this. So many people happily defend their actions and say congratulations on it yet all of them were willing to let the show be put on hold or worse canceled just to line their pockets more. It shows a lack of respect to the fans of the show imo that they would of held out and let that happen, it's the fans who ultimately pay their wages anyway

Only posting on here because Facebook is full of the usual idiots who just cry 'jealous hater, you'd take the money if offered it' It's sad to see so many humans that'd sell out their fellow man for money. There are far more important and FAR more worthy things in life to want

The greed and selfishness of humanity now is truly sickening

It's my favourite show but I haven't liked the direction it was taking lately, with all the guys having girlfriends/wives. It was alot funnier at the beginning, when none of them could get a girl. Now they're just average joes. Sheldon cracks me up though.

For better or for worse, Sheldon is the Spectrum Civil Rights movement of right now. He's going to be most people's understanding of what it means to be on the Asperger's-Autism Spectrum. I say, okay . . . let's go ahead and take a deep breath and embrace the situation. :jester: If this is where the conversation starts, so be it. And let's perhaps experiment with different ways taking the next positive step, for example . .

'You realize of course that a lot of people on the Spectrum might be good at social studies types of things and not just super technical science, right?'

And maybe just leaving it at that and being happy with just one advancement in a person's understanding. Or, maybe if the person is very positive and open, telling them one more thing. And leaving it at that, not becoming a preaching or a downloading of information type of encounter.

I'm a little surprised at the disparity of the salaries. I mean, Bernadette and Amy are pretty important characters.

Half hour show?? Try 19 minutes, most of the time.

On the other hand it's the 'American Dream,' from unknown nobodies to rich and famous. Has to happen to somebody or else we'd all be wage slaves.
The money has to go somewhere, at least some of the key people that really make they show work on the face end are getting a goodly chunk.
If 'they' can "make it," then so can anyone else (theoretically) even, maybe, you and I. That can help give life a little bit more hope. =)

"Greed and selfishness" is a pretty strong moral judgment on people getting a slice of a pie that's already baked and served after they helped make it.
If they got less money it certainly wouldn't go to the poor, nor would it lower the price of the hamburgers or tampons advertised during the show.

I myself negotiate higher to do jobs I don't want and negotiate lower for things I don't care so much to buy. In other words I'll negotiate a much lower price for a car I'm less interested in because it has a 'lower value' to me personally.
This is probably pretty normal, people often wont even buy something they seriously don't want, which is a pretty stiff negotiation position.

Besides, the "Nobility of poverty" is a false arrogance.

Hi 1401b, when you say you negotiate higher for jobs you don't particularly want, do you mean you have your business?

I very much like the idea of entrepreneurship, even though I've read the baseline statistic is that 80% of new businesses fail

Arguably not so. The show was a big success before either of them joined the cast. It would disrupt the storyline if they left, but the show would survive.
