BBC Sherlock
Doctor Who

And I adore British comedy panel shows.

I find I'm spending far less time watching TV than I did when I was a younger teen, now I watch a lot of things on the internet.

There are some popular TV shows that I've tried to watch but I just don't find that entertaining. South Park and Family Guy being two main examples. I'd watch them casually but to be honest I don't really get how so many people watch them. It's not that I don't like American comedy because I love The Big Bang Theory and The Simpsons.

I've also started getting into the reality show Big Brother (UK version).

Apparently Big Brother UK is meant to be far more vulgar and bitchy than Big Brother US. I've only seen one episode of BB US with Frankie Grande so I wouldn't really know.

For me, virtually any animated sitcom.

Shows I've been hooked on starting from a ways back:

Dark Angel
the last 3 seasons of Smallville
Stargate SG1 and Atlantis (I only liked the mind-bending time episode of SGU)
Trigun
Psych
Heroes
Chuck
Fringe
Supernatural
Sherlock
Doctor Who
Arrow <--- recent obsession until about several weeks ago (see below)

Especially the latter two right now because I just started Sword and finished season 2 of HOC (the ending!)

I discovered SAO on Netflix last month! Just finished watching the latest ep on hulu, actually. :D I cannot express how completely obsessed with this show I am. It's getting a little ridiculous...haha

I enjoy The Atheist Experience. It proves that it's possible to create engaging content for public access.

for me it's definitely breaking bad, true detective, and penny dreadful (the character played by eva green seems a bit autistic to me at times and i've become completely enamored with her role)

still watch babylon 5 at every opportunity
it was back in the day when no shows had arcs and ongoing stories
covering multiple episodes or whole seasons.
nothing like that on tv now
sci fi tends to shite like the 100 or defiance
awful concept or super model non actors

Barney Miller. I'm into No. 6 of that (1979-80), and it has been far funnier than practically anything on today.

I've been watching Guillermo Del Torro's The Strain, and I must say, it is exceptional horror on TV. A much less romantic view of Vampirism than any other show I've ever seen.

In The Flesh! ! It needs to be renewed for season three! The characters and story line are so compelling, I could get lost in the universe forever. It also had fantastic cinematography and foreshadowing! I could talk about it all day. I'm still in a fan-haze about this where I can't see anything problematic in it... Other than the lack of non-white characters. Hopefully I'll break out of this 'fan-haze' and be able to see the flaws soon.
I used to be obsessed with Supernatural, then it became repetitive and quite problematic. Though I still love the scene analysis made by fans and most things up to season five, and a bit of season eight.
I also liked Doctor Who(New Who, especially Nine), and still like the New Who up to the Moffat era, when it became incredibly hard to watch because the Doctor was blowing things up willy-nilly and talking on 'special' companions("You are the mother of my wife" "You exist in every time period and don't remember it????") rather than just normal, everyday people.
I also like BBC Sherlock, I've been meaning to rewatch it because the second season confused me first time 'round. I also can't tell if the third season is out of character or character development.

Law and Order (original but spinoffs are good too)
Criminal Minds
Mythbusters
Leverage
Mad Men
Shark Tank
Doomsday Preppers
First few season of Pokemon
Doraemon (mandarin Chinese dub)

Surprisingly, The Strain. I know it has its faults, but it's different enough from other shows in the genre that I'm really curious about what's going to happen next.

I was a little worried it was going to be, as you say, a romantic view of vampires when I first started picking up on what it was all about. I've been pleasantly surprised.

Glad I kept watching just to see how they'd handle it. :P

Spoiler alert*

Kinda puts a damper on the romantic angle when your vampires lose their genitalia during the period of mutation.
