Yeah I'd count as Sheldon as mostly positive as he's a sympathetic and likable character, based on what I've seen, with autistic traits. But I could understand the argument either way.

Oh no. I really liked this show! I like Sonya a lot too; she was a pretty positive representation of us.

Both her and Sheldon Cooper.

I don't think Sheldon is. He is very stereotypical and enforces the belief that we're...well, like him! (or Rain Man). Autism is what makes his character. The Bridge, on the other hand, never focused too much on the fact she was autistic. She was and that was that. We could see her being "weird" or stimming and it wasn't a big deal. Sheldon's autism is used as comedy and Sonya's as an actual way to explain her.

I think while Sheldon is a blatant stereotype - meaning that he never truly resembles any real person - he's still a positive character representing us, despite his irritating ways. After all, he's a successful theoretical physicist, has a circle of friends who more or less accept his quirks, and now has a girlfriend.

I think you're right about that! He is a very successful person who has a pretty great life. I'm annoyed with him a little bit because people begin to think of him as the face of autism. Even my (high school) psychology teacher said I couldn't be autistic because I acted nothing like him.

That's too bad that someone who should know better would think such a thing.

It is very sad that a show that the founder of this website worked on got cancelled! :(

I only saw a couple of them so I didn't get to see how autistic Sonia is so she always appeared normal to me. Did the character in the Swedish one have Asperger's too?

New to me the show got cancelled.

But honestly; I didn't care too much for the first season already.

I checked out the Swedish one, way before there was a US remake pending, and that one was great. Season 2 was interesting as well though slowly I'm wondering how much they can stretch the concept without repeating themselves.

Considering Kim Bodnia isn't appearing in season 3 of the Swedish one I wonder if there's a suitable replacement for him. I found Martin and Sofia actually work pretty well together as characters.

The only thing that might bother me is that I preferred looking at Sonya Cross rather than Sofia Nóren. Diane Kruger, for me personally is a bit more visually appealing.

Yeah I always found the picture of Alex and Diane very cute. Shame the show he consulted on isn't going to be made anymore.

Unless Netflicks picks up The Bridge entirely on DVD/Bluray, like they did with The Killing after AMC didn't renew that show.
