The Riddler (Arkhamverse)

Riddler here was extremely arrogant, especially in Arkham Knight. He refuses to believe that Batman or anyone else is smarter than him and he felt to need to repeatedly say so. So annoying.

Examples:

"How dare you brutalize me. Me! Your intellectual superior, your better?! Me, Edward Nigma, the Riddler the world's greatest EVERYTHING? You're a thug, 'detective', a bullying emblem of the arrogant notion that might makes right."

"You CHEATER! You fraud. You chancing bumbling amateur. Look what you have REDUCED me to, Batman! If you cannot simply bow down when confronted by your obvious superior then I will stoop to your pathetic, pugilistic level and MAKE you."

Lee Torneau.

The antagonist from the book Horns, as well as it's movie adaption. Lee lacks any conscience, and is motivated purely by selfish interests. But no one knows that, as he masks himself with a facade of being a good friend, and socially conscious activist. Or in other words, he's a true psychopath (at least in part due to brain damage he had sustained as a child). When his mother, ridden with dementia, is dying, he takes delight him tormenting her with dehydration, and near suffocation. He raped and murdered his lifelong friend, Merrin, and allows his best friend, and Merrin's boyfriend, Ig Perrish, to become the number one suspect. Not only that, Lee compromises Ig's brother, Terry, into helping him cover his crime. When Ig learns the truth, by supernatural means of devil's horns sprouting out of his head, Lee sets him on fire in his car. He justly deserves what eventually happens to him.

Penny in The Big Bang Theory. She's supposed to be the character the audience can relate to, but she's annoying and rude to Sheldon, much to delight of the audience. Sheldon makes perfect sense to me in most things he does, but she just knowingly acts like an a**hole toward him. I don't watch that show anymore.

I'm torn about Sheldon Cooper in TBBT; on the one hand, his quirks are hilarious and I can actually identify with him in some ways. In other ways, he strikes me as a narcissistic, sociopathic individual who cares only for himself, and exploits other people for his own gain. He's what I like to term a "lovable as*hole".

Sherlock in season 3 of that show.

Cumberbatch is a fine actor and strong presence, but that season was a passive aggressive mix of fan-worship and fan-mockery, the title character following suit, swinging from soft and sentimental to abrasive and dismissive to outright 'high functioning sociopath' (eesh!) with little consistency.

I agree with all that, and I don't like his so called friends either. They're as bad, they just aren't who the audience are supposed to relate to.

I don't like Finn in the 100. He's rash, impulsive and reckless.

Seska from Star Trek Voyager, she is so deceitful, mean, and cruel.
I get angry by the mere thought of her!

Okay, okay. I get pretty much all of these entries, but what I didn't get was your explanations. Mean? Arrogant? Abusive? I don't mean to sound confronting and/or offensive in this reply, but I just want to spread my opinion on this a bit, and I'll try to be as adapting as possible. c:

For example, there's a bully in a fairly funny show. He kicks all the other kids, calls them names, etc. Some people might go, ugh, he's such a terrible character. He shouldn't even be on the show. First of all, he's most likely one of the antagonists. They make the show interesting and give it conflict. Second of all, maybe you got to see a little bit into his home life. His father calls him out with the exact same things he calls you and your friends. His mother hit him in places where his clothes will cover.

You might call another character arrogant, selfish, stupidly centered around their own self-being. Well. More often than not - they don't even know they're doing it. I used to be like this until someone came around and recorded me bragging about my art, and guess what? I didn't know that I was doing it. I started to fix myself of this issue - to catch myself before I rant. Now, today, I know precisely when I have a rant starting and/or bragging profusely.

Sometimes the media creator doesn't even know better to make a character bland as bread, y'know? Sometimes they don't have backstory for a character's mean behaviour, or selfish money spending, or just negative traits in general, but you know what? TV Shows are meant to be enjoyed, and for enjoyment, it needs plot. And what makes plot interesting? Conflict! More often than not, conflict is compromised of man vs. man, and this most likely includes an antagonist.

So, this is my (really hypocritical) rant on what I'm looking for in here. I wasn't expecting such loose and bland answers, and I've said myself in here that I really try hard not to rant, but I personally think that people would think harder on this type of stuff. I just want you guys to take into account everything before you bash it. And maybe just give it a chance.

If you don't have anything nice to say, well. You know how it goes...

Characters I don't like would be:

Patrick Star (SBSP): Where to begin with this pink pile of stupid? Seriously, if any character is to dumb to live, it's him. But he commits a sin far greater than stupidity, he is also an amoral monster. Who has on quite a few occasions abused his friends, nearly killed animals with a flamethrower and acts like a prick to everyone he meets. And what's worse is the implication that he is only pretending to be stupid. And that he is fully aware of the pain and sorrow he is causing others.

Sparky (Fairly Oddparents): What do you get when you mix the tired old "talking dog" cliche, Spongebob's ear grating voice and all the smarts of a potatoe? You get Sparky of corse! Who is possibly the worst animal sidekick ever. In his intro episode he nearly kills Timmy twice. His whole character basically boils down to "Hur dur ims a dog, I can dos dog stuffs, but it's ok, I'm just a dog." Even though he is fully aware that what he is doing is wrong. If your going to have an animal character who talks and shows full self awareness, you cannot have them act like an animal and then have the only reason be "I'm an (insert species here)". It's not that hard to take the time to explain that your character still struggles with animalistic tendencies.

I hated Kylo Ren in the new star wars movie. He was such an arrogant idiot, probably a sociopath too.
